Frequently Asked Questions: OE 14264109-00
You have selected Aftermarket, the aftermarket alternative to this part. Where an answer below names BYD as the maker or calls the part Original/Genuine, it describes the Original/Genuine version, not this one.
Why can I not order this shock absorber straight away online?
This rear shock absorber does not go through an instant checkout. It is ordered as a quote, using the details you give for your BYD Yuan UP. Delivery time is confirmed with your quote. Before you request a price, open the fitment table on this page to check this rear shock suits your car. That confirms the part matches before you commit to an order.
What is the difference between the Original or Genuine and the Aftermarket versions?
Original and Genuine parts come from the vehicle maker, in this case BYD, while Aftermarket parts are made by another manufacturer to fit the same range. This listing carries the OE number 14264109-00, also shown as SC3EA-2915030A, and is new. Two listings can share an OE number while sitting in different tiers, so the tier matters when you compare pages for this rear shock. Look at the photographs on this page to see which tier and condition this particular listing shows before you settle on it.
The number on my old shock absorber does not match, what do I do?
If the number stamped on your old shock absorber does not match 14264109-00 or SC3EA-2915030A, do not order this one on the strength of the vehicle name alone. Go to the part currently fitted to your BYD Yuan UP and find the number stamped onto the shock itself. Compare it directly against both numbers shown on this page. If neither number matches, this is not the listing for your car, and you should hold off ordering until you find a listing carrying the number stamped on your old part.
Do I need a professional to fit this rear shock absorber?
Fitted underbody, this shock absorber is a suspension component rather than a trim piece you clip on and off. Whether you fit it yourself depends on the tools you have and how the fixings on your own car are arranged, which nothing on this page can tell you. Look at the side, the position and the fixings on your BYD Yuan UP before you decide, and compare what you see against the old shock absorber you are removing. If that setup is unfamiliar to you, have someone experienced handle the fitting instead.
What is this rear shock absorber made from and does it matter?
Metal is what this rear shock absorber is made of, and it is listed as new. It arrives as a single solid unit. Because it is a rigid metal component rather than a rubber or plastic one, there is no give in it to allow for a mismatched fitment, so the exact version matters. Check the model and the model year exactly as written on your registration document before you order, since a rigid metal body will not adjust to suit the wrong version of the Yuan UP.
Where on the car does this rear shock absorber fit?
At the back of the car is where this rear shock absorber sits, underbody rather than up front. It is supplied as a complete assembly, not something you build up from separate pieces. Have the old part in front of you before you order, so you can check for yourself that it came from the rear of the car and not the front, matching the position this listing is for. A quick look at what you are removing settles that in seconds, and is more reliable than trying to recall which end it came from.
