Frequently Asked Questions: OE 16209290-00
You have selected Aftermarket, the aftermarket alternative to this part. Where an answer below names BYD as the maker or calls the part Original/Genuine, it describes the Original/Genuine version, not this one.
Where does this panel go, left or right?
Left, and at the front. This panel belongs on the lower part of the front door on the left side of the car as you sit behind the wheel and look ahead. It is sold only for that door, so a front right or a rear panel is a different item with its own number. Check the old one before ordering. Any reference printed on it should agree with the OE number 16209290-00 or with the alternative reference shown lower down this page.
How do the Original/Genuine and Aftermarket versions differ here?
The Original/Genuine version is the one from BYD, the maker of the vehicle. The Aftermarket version is made by a supplier that is not named, and it is offered as a replacement for the same fitting. Both appear with a price on this page and both are new. The practical difference is who made it and what your repairer will sign off, so ask them first if the car is going into a shop. Otherwise choose the tier, then order.
Which number should I be matching, 16209290-00 or SC3E-5402831?
Either will do. This record carries 16209290-00 as the OE number and SC3E-5402831 as an alternative reference for the same front door panel, so a match on one is a match on the item. Old panels are often marked in an awkward spot, so run a cloth over the inner face and look again if nothing shows at first. If you read a number that is neither of these, treat that as a sign to check the model against the fitment table on this page before you spend anything.
What is the delivery time on this one?
Delivery time is confirmed with your quote. Anyone waiting on a bodyshop booking should get the order placed first and arrange the labour to land at the far end of that span. The shipping cost is confirmed with your quote. Before you order, check the number on your old part against OE 16209290-00.
How is a panel this long shipped out?
Packaging details are shown on this page. This panel's length is the thing to plan for, so the parcel moves on an oversized courier service rather than an ordinary one. Have a think about the doorway and the room it lands in before you order, and give an address where somebody can take it in rather than leaving it stood outside.
What material is this front panel, and does that change anything?
Plastic is what it is made from. Being plastic means the outer face is the finished surface, so keep it off gravel and grit while you work around the car. Before fitting, lay it next to the panel you have removed and check the OE number 16209290-00 against the old one.
Is it finished in black, and do I need to paint it?
Black is the colour, and the panel is fitted on the exterior of the car, so the finish shows. Where the front door skirt on your own car is a plain black trim, it should sit in as delivered and want nothing doing to it. Where your car has that lower edge finished to match the body, this panel does not offer such a version, and painting would be a job for a bodyshop before the panel goes on. Compare the two against the images here first.
