Frequently Asked Questions: OE 17970368-00
Why can't I just buy this driver airbag module online, do I need a quote?
This driver airbag module is quoted rather than bought outright, so start by checking the OE number on the old part, 17970368-00, against the fitment table on this page. Delivery time is confirmed with your quote. Confirming fitment first avoids ordering the wrong side, since this one is for the left. Send the number through the quote route on this page, and we will confirm the match against the OE number before anything is ordered.
How do I know this is the correct side for my car?
This listing is for the left side, so check that against the photographs on this page before you commit to the order. Airbag modules sit in the steering wheel and connectors and mounting points can differ between left hand drive and right hand drive layouts, so matching what you see in the photographs to the module you are removing avoids ordering the wrong side by mistake. If you are unsure once you have looked, hold off ordering until you have confirmed against the old part.
What should I do if the number on my old airbag module is different from this one?
If the number on your old part does not match 17970368-00, that does not automatically mean this is the wrong module, since it is also listed as SFHB-5820100PU-D1YBA. Rather than relying on the number alone, check the side, the position and the fixings on your own car. This one is listed as left hand and fitted to the interior, so confirm those two points against what you are removing before you decide the numbers disagree. If they still do not line up, hold off ordering until you are sure.
Should I get a garage to fit this airbag module?
This sits behind the steering wheel and connects into the car's safety systems, so it is not a straightforward bolt in job for most owners. If you are unsure about fitting it yourself, use the quote route on this page to get help sorting the work out. Have the OE number 17970368-00 to hand when you do, so whoever takes it on is working from the right reference for your Bao 5.
