Rear Bumper Bracket (Left) for BYD e2, OE 12588579-00

This one is the left rear bracket, so it belongs on the left side of the car as you sit in the driver's seat facing forward. Sides are not interchangeable here and the right hand version carries its own OE number. Before ordering, take the bumper skin off or look in behind it and confirm which side you are actually replacing, because the listing you opened first is not always the side you need. This bracket is made of metal. A metal bracket can be drilled and dressed by a bodyshop, which is useful when the mounting face has been pushed out of line by the same knock that took the bumper skin off. Before you order, hold your old one up and look along it for a bend as well as for splits around the bolt holes, since a bent bracket still bolts up but will not hold the skin where it should sit.

It is supplied in black and it mounts on the outside of the car, so the paint question comes up often. No paint work is needed. The bracket arrives finished in black and it goes on the car in that state, with no primer or colour matching to the body first. If the bumper skin is being sprayed at the same time, mask this part rather than coating it, because a heavy coat on the fixing faces stops the skin pulling up tight against the body.
