Frequently Asked Questions: OE 17561117-00
How do I know this is the left caliper and not the right?
This listing is for the left front caliper, matched to OE number 17561117-00 for the Song Ultra EV. If you are not certain which side has failed on your car, use the quote route on this page and give the details there, so the correct side can be confirmed before the order is placed. Getting the side right matters, since a caliper is fitted to one side only and cannot be swapped across the car.
What if the number on my old caliper does not match 17561117-00?
If the number on your old caliper reads differently, do not fit this one on the assumption it is close enough, since a mismatched OE number usually means a different bracket or hydraulic fitting. Also listed as EHEB-3501004, which may explain a different marking on your old part. Check the photographs on this page against the casting and markings on your old caliper before ordering, so you are matching what is actually on the car.
Can I fit this brake caliper myself?
A front brake caliper is a safety critical part carrying hydraulic pressure, so fitting it correctly matters more than fitting it quickly. This one is fixed underbody at the left front, and the bolts, hose connection and bleeding all need to be right first time. Before deciding whether to do it yourself, look closely at the side, the position and the fixings on your own car, so you know exactly what is involved in removing the old one and securing this in its place.
What is this caliper made of?
This caliper is made of metal. Before you order, have the old unit in front of you and match the OE number 17561117-00, or the listed alternative EHEB-3501004, against what is stamped or printed on it. A caliper can look similar across models, so the number is what confirms it is the right one, not the shape or the mounting points. Once you have checked it against the part in your hand, you can order knowing the new caliper matches the one you are taking off.
