BYD Destroyer 05 Parts

The BYD Destroyer 05 is a plug-in hybrid sedan built on the Qin PLUS DM-i bodyshell and DM-i powertrain, launched March 2022 as the first saloon in BYD's Ocean series. It carries its own bumpers, lamps, grille and dash, so panels and trim from a Qin PLUS DM-i listing will not fit even where the mechanical parts underneath do. Check the model code suffix before ordering: C is this car, B is the Qin.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
Engine warning light Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the 1.5-litre engine. On a plug-in hybrid the engine can run in short bursts, which is hard on those sensors. Match each one by its OE number.
Fuel smell or a fuel system warning after the car has stood for a while The tank, lines, filler neck and filter. Fuel can sit for weeks in a car that is charged often, so trace the leak or fault to its part before ordering.
Brake discs rusted or lipped while the pads still have plenty of material The discs. Regenerative braking does much of the slowing, so the friction brakes see little use. Inspect both axles and order discs and pads by OE number.
Car will not take a DC charge First confirm the car has a DC socket at all, because the launch tables list DC charging only on the 120 km version. Then check the socket and its wiring.
Knock or clunk from the rear over bumps The torsion beam bushes and the rear damper mounts. Check the bushes before ordering a damper, then match each part by OE number.
Parking brake warning or a rear brake that will not release The electric parking brake at the rear. Check the actuator and its connector before ordering a caliper, and order for the correct side.
A tyre ordered for the car does not fit The 55 km version runs 225/60 R16 and the 120 km version 215/55 R17. Read the size on the sidewall and order to match.

Most Replaced Parts on the Destroyer 05

  1. Front and rear bumper coversThe car has its own fascias, so Qin PLUS DM-i and Seal 05 DM-i bumpers will not fit
  2. Fuel tank, lines and filtersThe 1.5-litre engine keeps a full fuel system, even on a car driven mostly on battery
  3. Wheel arch liners and mud flapsArch trim meets the car's own bumpers, so match it by OE number, not by Qin listings
  4. Seat covers and head restraintsThe cabin and dashboard are the Destroyer 05's own, so match trim by OE number
  5. Brake hoses, lines and booster circuit partsVentilated front discs, solid rear discs and an electric parking brake on every version

About BYD Destroyer 05 Parts

The BYD Destroyer 05 is a compact plug-in hybrid saloon. It was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2021 and went on sale in China in March 2022. It stayed on sale after the Seal 05 DM-i launched in February 2025, with a 2025 model year added in May 2025. It is the Ocean-series sister car of the Qin PLUS DM-i. It has the same 2,718 mm wheelbase, the same body structure and the same DM-i drive: a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a single electric motor driving the front wheels, with a Blade battery of 8.3 kWh or 18.3 kWh. That means the car needs two kinds of parts. The engine needs oil, filters, fuel system parts and emission sensors like any petrol car. The motor, battery and charging hardware are electric-car parts. Much of the running gear is shared with the Qin, but the front end, rear end and dashboard belong to the Destroyer 05 alone. The surest check for any part is the OE number on the one you are replacing.

What to know before buying BYD Destroyer 05 parts

Start by confirming the car. Outside China it is also sold as the KING, the Seal 5 DM-i or the Chazor DM-i. Some later export versions differ from the Chinese car, so on those cars check the build date on the identification plate before ordering any powertrain part.

Next, rule out the two close relatives. The Qin PLUS DM-i has the same length of 4,780 mm, width of 1,837 mm, height of 1,495 mm and wheelbase, and the same powertrain. BYD gave the Destroyer 05 its own front and rear fascias and its own dashboard, though. Engine, hybrid drive and chassis parts often share OE numbers with the Qin. Bumpers, grilles, lamps and dash parts do not, so order those for the Destroyer 05 only, by OE number. The Seal 05 DM-i, which launched alongside the car in China in February 2025, is a restyle on the same body structure. It has new fascias, new headlamps, a full-width rear light bar, a new interior, a roof 20 mm higher at 1,515 mm, and a different engine, motor and batteries. The similar name is no guide to fit, so check the OE number every time.

Within the Destroyer 05 itself, the battery is the main split. The 55 km version has the 8.3 kWh pack, a 132 kW motor, 225/60 R16 tyres and a kerb weight of 1,515 kg. The 120 km version has the 18.3 kWh pack, a 145 kW motor, 215/55 R17 tyres and a kerb weight of 1,620 kg. The launch tables list a DC charging socket only on the 120 km version, so look at the charging flap before ordering charging parts. Read the tyre size off the sidewall rather than going by the badge. The centre screen is 12.8 inches on most versions and 15.6 inches on the 120 km Flagship, so order screen and dash parts to match the unit fitted.

Some hardware is common to every version: MacPherson struts at the front, a long-arm torsion beam at the rear, ventilated front discs, solid rear discs and an electric parking brake. The editions of 2023 and 2024 changed equipment and colours but left the body alone. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name. That also covers colours added later, such as Inkstone Blue.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Confirm the car is a Destroyer 05 and not a Qin PLUS DM-i or Seal 05 DM-i by its front end and badging, then order body parts for the Destroyer 05 only.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Check whether the car is the 55 km version with 8.3 kWh or the 120 km version with 18.3 kWh before ordering battery, motor or charging parts.
  4. Read the tyre size on the sidewall, 225/60 R16 or 215/55 R17, before ordering tyres or wheels.
  5. Look behind the charging flap for a DC socket before ordering charge port or charging parts.
  6. On an export car badged KING, Seal 5 DM-i or Chazor DM-i, read the build date on the identification plate before ordering powertrain parts, since the King 2027 sold in Mexico from July 2026 is a new generation and a different car.
  7. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The Destroyer 05 was the first model in BYD's Ocean-series warship line. It was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2021 and went on sale in China in March 2022 as a sister car to the Qin PLUS DM-i. It shares that car's body structure, dimensions and DM-i powertrain, but has its own front and rear fascias and dashboard. It came with an 8.3 kWh pack for 55 km of electric range or an 18.3 kWh pack for 120 km.

A Champion Edition went on sale on 28 April 2023, and a further 120 km Champion Edition was added in August 2023. The Honor Edition arrived on 19 February 2024 with six versions, a new Inkstone Blue paint and more standard equipment. According to reports, each of these editions changed equipment and colours while dimensions, powertrain and tyre sizes stayed the same. None of them was a facelift. For parts, the practical differences are paint and equipment, so match paint by colour code and equipment parts by OE number.

Outside China it is also sold as the KING, the Seal 5 DM-i or the Chazor DM-i in some markets. In July 2026 Mexico got the King 2027, a new generation with a complete redesign, so it is a different car and its parts are not listed here.

In China, the Seal 05 DM-i had pre-sales from 7 January 2025 and launched alongside the Destroyer 05 on 10 February 2025. That car keeps the body structure but has new fascias, lamps and interior and a different powertrain, so treat it as a separate car for body and powertrain parts. The Destroyer 05 stayed on sale, and a 2025 model year with 55 km and 120 km Changxing editions was added in May 2025.

BYD Destroyer 05 Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Destroyer 05?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That check matters here because the Destroyer 05 shares much of its hardware with the Qin PLUS DM-i and its body structure with the later Seal 05 DM-i, yet many visible parts differ between the three. If the old part is missing or its number is unreadable, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Is the Destroyer 05 the same car as the Qin PLUS DM-i?

Underneath, very nearly. BYD launched the Destroyer 05 in March 2022 as a sister car to the Qin PLUS DM-i, with the same 4,780 mm length, 1,837 mm width, 2,718 mm wheelbase and DM-i powertrain. It gave the Destroyer 05 its own front and rear fascias and its own dashboard, and sold it through its Ocean network rather than the Dynasty network. Engine, hybrid drive and chassis parts often share OE numbers with the Qin. Bumpers, grilles, lamps and dash parts do not. Check the OE number on the old part before ordering.

Do Seal 05 DM-i parts fit the Destroyer 05?

Do not assume so. The Seal 05 DM-i launched in China on 10 February 2025, and the Destroyer 05 stayed on sale alongside it. It keeps the same body structure and wheelbase, but it has restyled front and rear fascias, new LED headlamps, a full-width rear light bar and a redesigned interior. Its roof is 20 mm higher at 1,515 mm, and it uses a BYD472QC engine, a 120 kW motor and different battery packs. Bumpers, lamps, cabin trim and most powertrain parts therefore differ. Where a part might be shared, only a matching OE number confirms it.

How do I confirm that my car is a Destroyer 05?

Look at the front end, the rear end and the badging. The Destroyer 05 shares its body structure and powertrain with the Qin PLUS DM-i, but it has its own front and rear fascias and its own dashboard. The Seal 05 DM-i, sold alongside it from February 2025, has new fascias, new headlamps and a full-width rear light bar. Outside China the car is also sold as the KING, the Seal 5 DM-i or the Chazor DM-i. Some later export versions differ, so read the build date on the identification plate, then match every part by its OE number.

How do I tell which battery pack my car has?

The Chinese Destroyer 05 came with two packs. The 55 km version has an 8.3 kWh Blade battery and a 132 kW motor, and weighs 1,515 kg. The 120 km version has an 18.3 kWh pack and a 145 kW motor, and weighs 1,620 kg. At launch the two were also listed on different tyres, 225/60 R16 and 215/55 R17, and only the 120 km car was listed with DC charging. Confirm which version you have before ordering battery, motor or charging parts, then match the OE number on the old part.

What tyre sizes does the Destroyer 05 use?

At launch the 55 km versions ran 225/60 R16 and the 120 km versions ran 215/55 R17, with the same size front and rear. The 120 km Champion Edition of August 2023 kept the 215/55 R17 size. An owner may have changed the wheels since, so treat the badge only as a guide. Read the size printed on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted before ordering tyres, and order rims in the same size.

Does every Destroyer 05 have a DC charging socket?

No. The launch specification tables list DC charging only for the 120 km version with the 18.3 kWh pack, at a peak of 17 kW. The 55 km versions have no DC charging figures listed, which suggests they charge on AC only. Before ordering a charging socket, cable or charging control part, open the charging flap on the car and see which sockets are fitted. Then match the part by the OE number on the old unit.

It is a plug-in hybrid. Does it still need oil and filters?

Yes. Every Destroyer 05 carries a 1.5-litre petrol engine rated at 81 kW, which works with the electric motor through BYD's DM-i hybrid drive. It needs engine oil, an oil filter and an air filter, and it has the fuel system and emission sensors of any petrol engine. An owner who charges often may use little fuel, but the engine still runs and still needs servicing. Plan the service around the engine and order each filter and sensor by its OE number.

What brakes does the Destroyer 05 have?

The launch specification lists ventilated discs at the front, solid discs at the rear and an electric parking brake on every version. In normal driving, regenerative braking does much of the slowing, so the friction brakes work less than on a petrol car. That can leave discs rusted or lipped while the pads still look healthy. Inspect the discs as well as the pads, replace them in axle pairs, and order discs, pads, hoses and calipers by the OE numbers on the parts fitted.

What rear suspension does it use?

The launch specification lists MacPherson struts at the front and a long-arm torsion beam at the rear on both the 55 km and 120 km versions, so the layout does not change with the battery. The car is based on the Qin PLUS DM-i, so some suspension parts may carry the same OE numbers, but only a matching number confirms it. If there is a knock over bumps at the rear, check the beam bushes before ordering a damper. Order each part by the OE number on the old one.

What changed with the Champion and Honor Editions?

Very little that affects parts. The Champion Edition went on sale on 28 April 2023, and a further 120 km Champion Edition was added in August 2023. Reports say the design did not change and that the updates were to equipment. The Honor Edition followed on 19 February 2024 with six versions, a new Inkstone Blue paint and more standard equipment. Dimensions, powertrain and tyre sizes stayed the same, and the car had no facelift. Order painted panels by colour code and equipment parts by OE number.

Are the headlamps and tail lamps the same as on the Qin PLUS DM-i?

Do not assume they are. The Destroyer 05 has its own front and rear fascias, and its lamps sit in those panels, so a lamp from a Qin PLUS DM-i listing should not be taken as a match. The Seal 05 DM-i, sold alongside it from February 2025, has new LED headlamps and a full-width rear light bar, so its lamps suit neither car. Launch tables list LED low and high beams on every version. After a front or rear impact, check the mounting brackets as well, then order each lamp for the correct side by OE number.

Safety Recalls Affecting This Model

No campaign covers the Destroyer 05. SAMR recall S2025M0189I, opened on 28 November 2025, covers a power-battery pack consistency defect that limits output, but its scope names the Qin PLUS and Qin PLUS DM-i, down to their Champion Edition trims. The Destroyer 05 shared that bodyshell and that DM-i pack across the same build window and still sits outside it. Do not treat this car as covered by that recall, and do not treat it as fixed under it either, since neither has been recorded for this model.

If you have been told this car is subject to a recall, check the paperwork against the correct name. This vehicle is sold as Destroyer 05 and Destroyer 05 Glory in China, KING in Mexico, Seal 5 DM-i in the Philippines and Chazor DM-i in Uzbekistan. None of those is the Seal 05 DM-i, the restyled car that replaced it in February 2025 on a different engine, motor and battery packs. A recall notice naming the Seal 05 DM-i, the Qin PLUS or the Qin Pro does not apply here, and a notice naming this car by any of its own badges should be checked directly against the VIN and build date rather than assumed from the model name alone.
