Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points
| What you see or hear | Check first |
|---|---|
| Rear pads worn and the caliper piston will not push back by hand | The electronic parking brake at the rear caliper. Retract it electronically before changing the pads, then order pads and any caliper by side and OE number. |
| Gear selector fault or a selector that feels loose | Check the build date first. Cars from 11 October 2025 use a column shifter and earlier cars a crystal lever on the console, and the two do not interchange. |
| Front-end warning after a knock on a 2025 car | The active grille shutter and its actuator. The 2026 model does not have one, so order by the OE number on the old unit. |
| Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a minor knock | The ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can cause the warning on its own, so check it before replacing the sensor. |
| Engine warning light while the petrol engine is running | Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the 1.5-litre engine, the usual first suspects on any petrol engine, and match by OE number. |
| DC charging will not start or stops early | The charging socket, its seal and the charging cable. The 128 km and 210 km cars charge at different rates, so match charging parts to the pack fitted. |
| Uneven tyre wear or a knock from the rear over bumps | Front alignment and the bushes on the rear torsion beam. The rear has no separate control arms, so order the beam or bushes by OE number. |

About BYD Seal 05 DM-i Parts
The BYD Seal 05 DM-i is a compact plug-in hybrid saloon. It went on sale in China on 10 February 2025 and replaced the Destroyer 05. It is 4,780 mm long on a 2,718 mm wheelbase. A single 120 kW electric motor drives the front wheels, and it works with a 74 kW 1.5-litre petrol engine through an E-CVT, using BYD's fifth-generation DM-i system. So the car needs two kinds of parts. It has the battery, motor and charging hardware of an electric car, and the oil, filters, fuel system and emission sensors of a petrol car. It shares its body with the Qin PLUS DM-i and its length, width and wheelbase with the Destroyer 05, so many parts look familiar. Its bumpers, lights and interior are its own. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number is the surest way to confirm a part fits.
What to know before buying BYD Seal 05 DM-i parts
Start by making sure the car is a Seal 05 DM-i. It replaced the Destroyer 05 in China and keeps that car's length of 4,780 mm, width of 1,837 mm and wheelbase of 2,718 mm. Its roof is 20 mm higher at 1,515 mm, and the front and rear were restyled. It also shares its body with the Qin PLUS DM-i, which has its own front and rear ends and its own interior. Bumpers, grilles, lights and cabin trim are therefore the parts most likely to differ between the three cars, even where the panel underneath looks the same. Match them by OE number rather than by how they look.
Badges outside China can mislead, since the Seal 5 DM-i name is used for more than one car. Measure the roof height and read the OE number on the old part to settle which car you have.
The battery divides the range most sharply. Cars from the February 2025 launch have either a 7.68 kWh pack, rated at 55 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, or a 15.87 kWh pack rated at 120 km. The 2026 model, launched on 11 October 2025, uses the 15.87 kWh pack rated at 128 km and charges at up to 17 kW DC. A 25.3 kWh pack rated at 210 km, charging at up to 48 kW DC, joined in January 2026. Order battery, charging socket and charging module parts only once you know which pack is fitted.
The October 2025 change also replaced the crystal gear lever on the console with an electronic column shifter and removed the active grille shutter. Gear selector and grille parts from either side of that date do not interchange, so read the build date on the identification plate before ordering them.
Some things vary from car to car. Every trim listed runs 225/60 R16 tyres, but the entry 2026 car has steel wheels and the higher trims have alloys. Driver-assistance hardware ranges from four ultrasonic sensors and one camera on the entry car to 12 cameras, millimetre-wave radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors on DiPilot 100 cars. A bumper repair may therefore need sensors and brackets as well as the panel. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car.
Before You Order: 7 Checks
- Check the badge and the roof height before ordering body parts. This car stands 1,515 mm tall, 20 mm more than the Destroyer 05.
- Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing, whatever the badge on the boot says.
- Confirm the battery pack from the electric range, 55, 120, 128 or 210 km on the CLTC cycle, before ordering battery or charging parts.
- Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering a gear selector, grille parts or charging parts, since the 2026 model from 11 October 2025 changed all three.
- Check whether the car has steel or alloy wheels, and read the tyre size on the sidewall, before ordering wheels or tyres.
- Count the parking sensors and cameras on the car before a bumper or mirror repair, and order each sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
- Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.
Generations and Facelifts
The Seal 05 DM-i grew out of the Destroyer 05, which went on sale in China in March 2022. The Destroyer 05 was a compact plug-in hybrid saloon heavily based on the Qin PLUS DM-i, sharing its body but with its own front and rear styling.
The Seal 05 DM-i opened for pre-sale on 7 January 2025 and launched on 10 February 2025 in three trims, replacing the Destroyer 05 in China. It kept the Destroyer's length, width and 2,718 mm wheelbase and raised the roof by 20 mm to 1,515 mm. It also moved to BYD's fifth-generation DM-i system, with a 74 kW 1.5-litre engine and a 120 kW motor. The packs were 7.68 kWh or 15.87 kWh. The 2025 cars have a crystal gear lever on the console, and the active grille shutter is listed on the 2025 specification.
The 2026 model followed on 11 October 2025 in a single trim. It uses the 15.87 kWh pack, now rated at 128 km on the CLTC cycle, with 17 kW DC charging. It replaced the crystal lever with an electronic column shifter and dropped the active grille shutter. In January 2026 a 210 km version joined, with a 25.3 kWh pack and 48 kW DC charging. For parts, the gear selector, the grille, the battery and the charging hardware all change at these dates.
The body shape has not changed, and the Seal 05 DM-i has had no facelift. Outside China it is also sold as the Seal 5 DM-i in some markets. Before ordering any of the date-split parts above, read the build date on the identification plate.
BYD Seal 05 DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Seal 05 DM-i?
Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That check matters on this car because it shares its body with the Qin PLUS DM-i and its dimensions with the Destroyer 05, so a part can look right and still be wrong. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
Is the Seal 05 DM-i just a renamed Destroyer 05?
It replaced the Destroyer 05 in China and is closely based on it, but BYD restyled and updated it. Length, width and wheelbase are unchanged at 4,780 mm, 1,837 mm and 2,718 mm, while the roof is 20 mm higher at 1,515 mm against 1,495 mm. The front and rear were restyled, and the powertrain moved to BYD's fifth-generation DM-i system. Treat bumpers, lights, trim and powertrain parts as different until the OE numbers show otherwise, and check the badge before ordering anything.
Will Qin PLUS DM-i parts fit the Seal 05 DM-i?
Some will. The Seal 05 DM-i is the sister model of the Qin PLUS DM-i and uses the same body, but it has its own front and rear styling and a redesigned interior. Hidden structural parts are the most likely to be shared. Bumpers, grilles, lights and cabin trim are the most likely to differ. Battery and charging parts also depend on which pack each car carries. Do not assume a part fits because it came off a Qin PLUS. Compare the OE number on the old part with the listing before you order.
How do I tell the Seal 05 DM-i apart from similar cars?
Start with the roof height and the OE number. This car stands 1,515 mm tall, 20 mm more than the Destroyer 05, which shares its length, width and wheelbase. Outside China, the Seal 5 DM-i name is used for more than one car, so the badge alone does not tell you which car you have. The Qin PLUS DM-i shares the body but has its own front and rear ends and its own interior. If you are unsure, measure the roof height and match every part by the OE number on the old part.
Which battery does my Seal 05 DM-i have?
Chinese cars use three packs. Cars from the 2025 launch have a 7.68 kWh pack, rated at 55 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, or a 15.87 kWh pack rated at 120 km. The 2026 model, launched on 11 October 2025, uses the 15.87 kWh pack rated at 128 km, and a 25.3 kWh pack rated at 210 km was added in January 2026. The electric range on the car's specification narrows it down quickly. Confirm the pack and the build date, then order battery and charging parts by OE number.
What changed with the 2026 model?
The 2026 model launched on 11 October 2025 in a single trim. Its 15.87 kWh pack is rated at 128 km on the CLTC cycle, and it charges at up to 17 kW DC. The crystal gear lever on the console was replaced by an electronic column shifter, and the active grille shutter was dropped. A 210 km version with a larger pack followed in January 2026. The body shape did not change. Before ordering a gear selector, grille parts or charging parts, read the build date on the identification plate and match by OE number.
Does the Seal 05 DM-i have DC fast charging?
The 2026 cars do. The 128 km car charges at up to 17 kW DC, and the 210 km cars added in January 2026 charge at up to 48 kW DC. Because the two packs charge at different rates, do not assume their charging hardware is the same. On a 2025 car, check what is fitted behind the charging flap before ordering anything for it. Match sockets, cables and charging modules by the OE number on the old part, and check the build date on the identification plate.
What wheels and tyres does the Seal 05 DM-i use?
Every trim listed runs 225/60 R16 tyres front and rear, which means a small rim with a tall sidewall on a 4,780 mm saloon. The entry 2026 car has steel wheels and the higher trims have alloys, so the rims differ even though the tyres are the same size. Read the size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, and check whether the car has steel or alloy wheels before ordering rims or wheel trims. Do not order from Destroyer 05 or export listings without checking the size first.
Why does a rear brake job on this car need care?
The Seal 05 DM-i has an electronic parking brake that acts on the rear brakes. When you change the rear pads, the parking brake mechanism holds the caliper piston, so it cannot simply be pushed back by hand. Retract it electronically with a diagnostic tool before the pads come out. The front discs are ventilated and the rear discs are a different part, so order discs and pads by axle. Order the rear caliper for the correct side and match it by the OE number on the old unit.
What is the rear suspension, and what does it mean for parts?
The front uses MacPherson struts and the rear a long-arm torsion beam, which is a non-independent layout. A torsion beam has no separate rear control arms, so if someone quotes a rear control arm for this car, check the reference before ordering. The beam itself is replaced as one assembly, while its bushes, the rear dampers and the springs are separate wear items. Order front suspension parts by side, and match the beam, bushes and dampers by the OE number on the old parts.
Which driver-assistance sensors does the car have, and do they affect a bumper repair?
That depends on the specification. The entry 2026 car lists four ultrasonic sensors and one camera. DiPilot 100 cars list 12 ultrasonic sensors, 12 cameras and millimetre-wave radar. The cameras sit in the windscreen, the door mirrors and the front wings. After a knock, a bumper repair may need sensors and brackets as well as the panel, and replacement cameras and radar usually need calibrating once fitted. Check which sensors are on the car, then order each one by the OE number on the old unit.
It is a plug-in hybrid. Does it still need oil and filters?
Yes. The 1.5-litre petrol engine still needs engine oil, an oil filter, an air filter and spark plugs. The car also has a 65-litre fuel tank, fuel lines and the emission sensors of any petrol car. On a car charged every day the engine may run less often, but it still needs regular servicing. Plan services by the engine's own schedule rather than treating the car as fully electric, and order each consumable by the OE number on the part you are replacing.
