BYD Sealion 05 EV Parts

The BYD Sealion 05 EV is a five-seat, five-door electric SUV built on e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with the Blade battery built into the body structure rather than hung beneath it, so pack work is body work and you will need the colour code for painted panels. Every trim built runs a single rear motor, never a front drive unit, and on 20 April 2026 BYD replaced the bodyshell on a longer wheelbase with new packs and a stronger motor, so check the wheelbase on the car in front of you before ordering.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
A replacement tyre is the wrong size The 2025 car runs 215/60 R17 or 215/55 R18 depending on trim, and every 2026 car runs 235/50 R18. Read the sidewall and order to the size fitted.
Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a minor knock The ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can trigger the warning on its own, so check it first, then order the sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
Driver-assistance fault after roof or windscreen work on a 2026 upper trim The roof-mounted lidar and the cameras near the windscreen. Check the lidar mounting and cover for damage, and order by OE number, since the 2026 base trim has no lidar.
Rear brakes grinding or binding after the car has stood for a while Rear pads, discs and the electric parking brake caliper. Regenerative braking means the friction brakes do little work, so check for corrosion as well as wear before ordering.
Knock or clunk from the rear over bumps The multi-link rear arms and their bushes. Find the worn joint, then order the arm by OE number and build date, since the 2026 car sits on a longer wheelbase.
Powered tailgate slow or not opening on a 2025 top trim The tailgate struts and drive unit. Only the top 2025 trim has the powered tailgate, so confirm the trim and order by the OE number on the old part.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Coolant hoses, the expansion tank and the temperature sensors. The system cools the battery and the rear drive unit, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering, then match the part by OE number.

Most Replaced Parts on the Sealion 05 EV

  2. Control arms and bushingsStrut front and multi-link rear on every version, so match by build date and OE number
  3. Brake discs and padsVentilated front discs, rear discs and an electric parking brake on every trim
  4. Cameras, radar and park-assist modulesSensor sets differ between 2025 cars, the 2026 base trim and the lidar trims
  5. Wheel bearings and knucklesThree tyre sizes across two versions, so read the sidewall before ordering

About BYD Sealion 05 EV Parts

The BYD Sealion 05 EV is a compact electric SUV launched in China on 25 March 2025 on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 Evo. Every version drives the rear wheels through a single rear motor. It has MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear axle, and there is no motor at the front. There is no engine, so no engine oil, oil filter or exhaust sensors. The parts that matter are the Blade battery, the rear drive unit, the brakes, the suspension, and the body and sensor hardware of a modern SUV. The 2026 model arrived on 20 April 2026. It is longer, sits on a longer wheelbase, and changes the battery, motor, tyres, lights and sensors, so the two versions share less than the badge suggests. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number is the surest way to confirm a part fits.

What to know before buying BYD Sealion 05 EV parts

Start by making sure the car is the Sealion 05 EV. BYD also sells a Sealion 05 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a motor that drive the front wheels. The EV drives only its rear wheels and has no engine, so drive units, cooling parts, underbody parts and anything engine-related do not cross between the two. A fuel filler flap marks the hybrid. Take care with export badges as well. Outside China, the Sealion 5 DM-i is a Song Pro DM-i and the Sealion 6 is a Song Plus DM-i. Neither is this car.

Next, work out which version you have. The launch car from March 2025 is 4,520 mm long on a 2,720 mm wheelbase. The 2026 model, on sale from 20 April 2026, is 4,620 mm long on a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Width is 1,860 mm and height 1,630 mm on both, so those figures will not tell the cars apart. A tape measure between the wheel centres settles it. The 2026 car also has a closed front with a full-width light strip, C-shaped headlights and new full-width tail lights, so treat lamps, bumpers and front panels as specific to each version.

Tyres are the easiest thing to get wrong. On the 2025 car, the 430 km trim and the lower 520 km trim run 215/60 R17 and the top 520 km trim runs 215/55 R18. That means two trims with the same 60.9 kWh battery sit on different wheels. Every 2026 car runs 235/50 R18. Read the size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or wheel hardware.

Driver-assistance hardware varies more than the badge suggests. Every 2025 car carries five radar units, 12 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The 2026 base trim carries six ultrasonic sensors and four cameras with no radar. The two upper 2026 trims add a roof-mounted lidar with three radar units, 11 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Count the sensors in the bumper before ordering a bumper, sensor or bracket, and order painted panels by the colour code on the car.

Finally, the drive changed with the 2026 model. The 2025 car uses a 50.05 kWh or 60.9 kWh Blade battery with a 140 kW or 160 kW motor. The 2026 car uses a second-generation Blade battery of 57.5 kWh or 68.5 kWh with a 200 kW or 240 kW motor and much faster charging. Read the build date on the identification plate, and match motors, battery parts and charging parts by OE number.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Measure the wheelbase if you are unsure which version you have. 2,720 mm is the 2025 car and 2,770 mm is the 2026 model.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing, since a matching number is the surest check that a part fits.
  3. Confirm the car is the EV and not the Sealion 05 DM-i hybrid before ordering any drive, cooling or underbody part.
  4. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres or rims, since three sizes are used across the two versions.
  5. Count the sensors in the bumpers and check the roof for a lidar unit before ordering driver-assistance parts or brackets.
  6. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering battery, motor, charging or lighting parts.
  7. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The Sealion 05 EV is the electric member of BYD's Sealion 05 family. The name first appeared in September 2024 on the Sealion 05 DM-i, a front-drive plug-in hybrid, and the EV followed on 25 March 2025. Despite the shared name, the EV was engineered separately. It sits on e-Platform 3.0 Evo with a single rear motor and a multi-link rear axle, so its drive and suspension parts have nothing in common with the hybrid.

The launch car came in three trims on a 2,720 mm wheelbase and a 4,520 mm body. The entry trim has a 50.05 kWh battery and a 140 kW motor, and the two upper trims have a 60.9 kWh battery and a 160 kW motor, all with 330 Nm of torque. The lower two trims run 17-inch wheels and the top trim runs 18-inch wheels. The top trim also has a powered tailgate. All three share the same set of driver-assistance sensors.

The 2026 model was launched on 20 April 2026, alongside a new Sealion 05 DM-i. So far it is the only major change to the car, and it goes further than a usual facelift. The wheelbase grows to 2,770 mm and the length to 4,620 mm, and the front and rear lights are new. The second-generation Blade battery comes in 57.5 kWh or 68.5 kWh form, and the rear motor rises to 200 kW or 240 kW with less torque than before. Charging is much faster. Every trim runs 235/50 R18 tyres, and the sensor set now varies by trim, with lidar on the upper two. For parts, treat the 2025 and 2026 cars as separate, and read the build date on the identification plate before ordering suspension, battery, motor, lighting or sensor parts.

BYD Sealion 05 EV Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Sealion 05 EV?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This matters on the Sealion 05 EV because the 2025 and 2026 versions share a name but differ in wheelbase, battery, motor, tyres, lights and sensors. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send us a photo of it through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Is the Sealion 05 EV rear-wheel drive on every version?

Yes. Every version sold so far has a single permanent magnet motor at the rear driving the rear wheels, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear axle. No all-wheel-drive version has been announced. That sets it apart from the Sealion 05 DM-i hybrid, which drives its front wheels. A front drive unit or front driveshaft has no place on this car, so if one has been quoted, check the badge and the OE number again before ordering.

How do I tell a 2025 car from a 2026 car?

Measure the wheelbase between the wheel centres. The 2025 car, launched on 25 March 2025, measures 2,720 mm and is 4,520 mm long. The 2026 model, launched on 20 April 2026, measures 2,770 mm and is 4,620 mm long. Width and height are the same on both, so they will not help. The 2026 car also has a closed front, a full-width light strip and new full-width tail lights. Once you know the version, read the build date on the identification plate and confirm each part by OE number.

Which 2025 trims have 18-inch wheels?

Only the top 520 km trim, which runs 215/55 R18. The 430 km trim and the lower 520 km trim both run 215/60 R17. The two 520 km trims share a 60.9 kWh battery, so the battery size does not tell you the wheel size. If the tyres have been changed since new, go by what is on the car now. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted before you order a tyre or rim, and order wheel hardware to suit the same size.

Will tyres from a 2026 car fit my 2025 Sealion 05 EV?

They will not match what the car left the factory with. Every 2026 car runs 235/50 R18. The only 18-inch size on the 2025 car is 215/55 R18, which is narrower and has a taller sidewall, and the lower 2025 trims run 215/60 R17. Treat rims, tyres and related hardware as specific to each version. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted and order to that size, then match any rim by its OE number.

Does the Sealion 05 EV have lidar?

The 2025 car does not. It uses radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors only. On the 2026 model, the two upper trims carry a single roof-mounted lidar unit, which brings BYD's God's Eye B driver assistance. The base 2026 trim has no lidar. Model year alone does not settle the question, so look at the roof above the windscreen before ordering a lidar unit, bracket or cover, and match the part by the OE number on the old unit.

What driver-assistance sensors does my car carry?

That depends on the version and trim. Every 2025 car carries five radar units, 12 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The 2026 base trim carries six ultrasonic sensors and four cameras with no radar. The two upper 2026 trims carry a lidar, three radar units, 11 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The ultrasonic sensors sit in the bumpers, so a bumper repair often needs sensors and brackets as well as the panel. Count the sensors on the car and order each one by the OE number on the old unit.

Where is the charging port, and is there a front boot?

On both versions, the charging port is on the right-hand side of the car. Because the motor sits at the rear, there is room at the front for a 110-litre front boot, which is the same size on both versions. If you are replacing a charge-port flap, socket or front boot part, check which version you have first. The charging hardware changed when the 2026 model brought much faster charging, so read the build date on the identification plate and match the part by OE number.

Does the Sealion 05 EV carry a spare wheel?

No. None of the 2025 or 2026 trims has a spare wheel. If a tyre is damaged beyond repair, the replacement has to match the size already fitted, which is 215/60 R17 or 215/55 R18 on a 2025 car and 235/50 R18 on a 2026 car. Read the sidewall before you order. If you are replacing a rim at the same time, match it by the OE number on the old one so that the offset and fixings are correct.

Do the brakes and suspension differ between trims?

The basic layout is the same on every trim of both versions. Each has ventilated front discs, rear discs and an electric parking brake, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear axle. Take care with the adaptive DiSus-C damping, since reports differ on which cars have it. Before ordering a damper, check whether the old unit has an electrical connector and read its OE number. For arms, bushes and brake parts, check the build date as well, since the 2026 model sits on a longer wheelbase.

Do parts from the Sealion 05 DM-i fit the EV?

The two cars share a name and, from 2026, a similar look, but the running gear is different. The DM-i is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a motor that drive the front wheels. The EV has a single rear motor and no engine. Drive units, cooling parts, underbody panels and anything engine-related do not cross between them. Do not rely on the shared name or the similar look. Match every part by the OE number on the old one before ordering.

Are the Sealion 5 DM-i and Sealion 6 the same car as the Sealion 05 EV?

No. Outside China, the Sealion 5 DM-i is a Song Pro DM-i and the Sealion 6 is a Song Plus DM-i. Both are plug-in hybrids with petrol engines, and neither takes parts from this page. The Sealion 05 EV is an electric car with rear-wheel drive, sold in China. Check the badge and whether the car has a fuel filler before ordering, then match each part by its OE number.
