Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points
| What you see or hear | Check first |
|---|---|
| Rear discs corroded or scored while the pads still have plenty of material | The rear discs. Regeneration does much of the braking, so the discs see little use. Replace them on condition, and match the discs and pads by OE number. |
| Parking brake warning, or the parking brake will not release | The rear calipers with their parking brake motors and the wiring to them. Order the caliper for the correct side as an electric parking brake unit. |
| Parking sensor or emergency braking warning after a minor knock | On the Premium and Flagship, the front parking sensors and their brackets in the bumper. A bent bracket can cause the warning by itself, so check it before replacing the sensor. |
| Adaptive cruise or braking assistance switching off in snow, slush or heavy dirt | Clean the front sensor area first. If the warning stays in dry, clean conditions, check the sensor and its mounting before ordering by OE number. |
| Charge flap will not open or will not lock shut | The flap actuator and its linkage. The DM hybrid has its own charging hardware, so do not assume its flap parts fit, and match the part by OE number. |
| Knocking from the suspension over broken surfaces | Drop links, lower control arm bushes and strut top mounts at the front, then the multi-link joints at the rear. Order by side and by OE number. |
| Much shorter range or slow charging in cold weather | Find out if the car has battery low-temperature heating, which only the Premium and Flagship list, before ordering any battery thermal part. |

About BYD Song Pro EV Parts
The BYD Song Pro EV is the fully electric version of the Song Pro, a five-seat mid-size SUV launched in China on 11 July 2019 alongside petrol and DM plug-in hybrid versions built on the same body. It uses a single permanent-magnet electric motor fed by a ternary lithium battery. Three trims have 59.1 kWh and 120 kW, and the Flagship has 71 kWh and 135 kW. Every car was sold as a 2019 model year, and the electric version left the range in 2021 without a facelift. For parts, that means much of the body and glass is likely shared with the early petrol and DM cars, while the battery, motor, charging and battery heating hardware belong to the EV alone. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number is the surest way to confirm a part fits.
What to know before buying BYD Song Pro EV parts
Start by making sure the car is the electric Song Pro. In 2019 the Song Pro was sold as a petrol car, a DM plug-in hybrid and the EV, all on one body measuring 4,650 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall on a 2,712 mm wheelbase. Many panels, glass and trim items are likely to be common to all three. The EV has no engine, fuel system or exhaust, though, and its motor, battery, charging and heating hardware are its own. The DM is also a plug-in car with its own charging hardware, so do not assume a charge flap or socket taken from it will suit the EV. Match every part by the OE number on the one you are removing.
The trim is the split that matters most. The Comfort, Luxury and Premium carry a 59.1 kWh ternary lithium battery and a 120 kW motor with a quoted range of 405 km. The Flagship carries a 71 kWh battery and a 135 kW motor with a quoted range of 502 km. Torque is 280 Nm on every car, so it does not tell them apart. Battery low-temperature heating is listed on the Premium and Flagship only, so a Luxury and a Premium share a pack but not the heating hardware around it.
Wheel size does not follow the battery. The Comfort runs 225/60 R18 and the other three trims run 235/50 R19, so read the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or hub parts. Every trim has ventilated front discs, solid rear discs and an electric parking brake, with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. The rear caliper carries the parking brake motor, so order it as that unit.
Driver-assistance equipment also varies by trim. The Comfort and Luxury have a rear camera and rear parking sensors. The Premium adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera, and the Flagship adds automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive headlights and a 12.8 inch rotating centre screen in place of the 10.1 inch unit. Bumpers, sensor brackets, headlights and screens therefore need matching by OE number, and painted panels by the colour code on the car.
Finally, keep later Song Pro parts separate. The Song Pro was facelifted in December 2021, and every Song Pro built since, including the export Sealion 5 DM-i, is a hybrid with a restyled body. Their bumpers, grilles and lights were not made for the EV, even where the part name looks the same.
Before You Order: 7 Checks
- Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing, since a matching number is the surest check that a part fits.
- Confirm the trim before ordering battery or motor parts: the Comfort, Luxury and Premium use 59.1 kWh and 120 kW, the Flagship 71 kWh and 135 kW.
- Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or hub parts, since the Comfort runs 225/60 R18 and the other trims 235/50 R19.
- Check whether battery low-temperature heating is fitted before ordering battery thermal parts, since only the Premium and Flagship list it.
- Order the rear caliper as an electric parking brake unit, since every trim has one.
- Do not order front-end panels or lights from a Song Pro DM-i built from December 2021 onwards unless the OE number matches.
- Order painted panels by the colour code on the car, and after a bumper repair check the sensors and brackets as well as the panel.
Generations and Facelifts
The Song Pro arrived in July 2019 with three powertrains on one body: petrol, DM plug-in hybrid and fully electric. The electric Song Pro EV went on sale on 11 July 2019 in four trims, all badged as the 2019 model year. The Comfort, Luxury and Premium share a 59.1 kWh ternary lithium battery and a 120 kW motor, and the Flagship has a 71 kWh battery and a 135 kW motor. Body dimensions are the same across all four: 4,650 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall on a 2,712 mm wheelbase. BYD never issued a later model year for the EV, and it left the range in 2021.
In December 2021 the Song Pro was facelifted for the 2022 model year and moved to the DM-i plug-in hybrid, which from then on was the only Song Pro on sale. The electric car was not part of that update, so its front end, lights and trim stayed in their original 2019 form. A second facelift in May 2023 made the body 88 mm longer, and an updated car with BYD's fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system followed in September 2024. From 2025 the Song Pro has been exported as the Sealion 5 DM-i.
For parts, that history gives a simple rule. The Song Pro EV had no facelift and no mid-life update, so the build date on the identification plate does not change which part fits. What changes is the trim, which sets the battery, the motor, the wheel size, the battery heating and some of the driver-assistance hardware. Parts from the later DM-i cars and the Sealion 5 DM-i belong to a restyled body and should not be ordered for the EV unless the OE number matches.
BYD Song Pro EV Parts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make sure a part fits my Song Pro EV?
Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That matters on the Song Pro EV because it shares a body with the petrol and hybrid Song Pro, while its battery, motor and some trim-dependent hardware are its own. If the old part is missing or its number is unreadable, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
Which battery and motor does my car have?
It depends on the trim. The Comfort, Luxury and Premium carry a 59.1 kWh battery with a 120 kW motor and a quoted range of 405 km. The Flagship carries a 71 kWh battery with a 135 kW motor and a quoted range of 502 km. Torque is 280 Nm on both, so it will not tell them apart. The two batteries and motors are different parts, so before ordering anything for the battery or drive, read the OE number on the part you are replacing and match it to the listing.
Does the Song Pro EV use a Blade battery?
No. Every Song Pro EV uses a ternary lithium battery, a different cell chemistry from BYD's lithium iron phosphate Blade battery. Battery modules, management electronics and pack hardware from a Blade-equipped BYD are not replacements for parts in this car, even where a model name looks similar. Treat the battery system as specific to the Song Pro EV and to its pack size, and order each battery-side part by the OE number on the old one.
Will parts from the 2019 petrol or DM Song Pro fit?
Many body parts are likely to, because the petrol, DM and electric Song Pro were launched together in 2019 on the same body, 4,650 mm long on a 2,712 mm wheelbase. The powertrain is where they part company. The EV has no engine, fuel system or exhaust, and its motor, battery and heating hardware are its own. The DM is also a plug-in car, so its charging parts are not automatically the same either. Match panels, glass and trim by OE number rather than by shape before ordering.
Do parts from the Song Pro DM-i or Sealion 5 DM-i fit?
Be careful here. The Song Pro was facelifted in December 2021 for the 2022 model year and moved to the DM-i hybrid, and the electric version did not carry over. A further facelift in May 2023 made the body 88 mm longer, and an updated DM-i car followed in September 2024. The export Sealion 5 DM-i belongs to that later family. Bumpers, grilles and lights from these cars were not made for the EV, so order by the OE number on the part you are replacing.
Which wheels and tyres does it take?
Two sizes were fitted. The base Comfort trim runs 225/60 R18, and the Luxury, Premium and Flagship run 235/50 R19, with the same size front and rear. The battery size does not tell you the wheel, since two of the 59.1 kWh trims sit on 19 inch wheels. Read the size on the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres or rims, and match wheel bearings and hub parts by the OE number on the old part.
Are the rear brakes ventilated?
No. Every trim has ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear, with an electric parking brake. The rear caliper houses the parking brake motor, so the piston is retracted electronically for a pad change rather than wound back by hand. Regenerative braking does much of the slowing, so rear discs can corrode and score before the pads wear out. Judge the discs on their own condition, and order discs, pads and calipers by the OE number on the old part.
Was there a facelift I should watch for?
Not for the electric car. The Song Pro EV went on sale on 11 July 2019, was sold only as a 2019 model year and left the range in 2021. The facelift that followed in December 2021 went to the DM-i hybrid only. That means there is no build-date split to look for within the EV. The differences that matter are between the four trims, so confirm the trim and match each part by its OE number before you order.
Does my car have battery low-temperature heating?
Only the upper trims have it. Battery low-temperature heating is listed for the Premium and Flagship, and not for the Comfort or Luxury. Because the Luxury and Premium share the 59.1 kWh battery, two cars with the same battery can still differ in the heating hardware around it. Before ordering heaters, connectors or control units for the battery thermal circuit, confirm the trim and match the OE number on the part you are removing.
What charging hardware does the Song Pro EV use?
At launch BYD quoted DC charging at up to 70 kW, with a full charge in about 1 hour on the 59.1 kWh cars and 1.2 hours on the Flagship, and a 7 kW wall-mounted AC charger was supplied. The launch also advertised VTOL, which lets the car supply 220 V AC power to outside devices. Charging sockets, flaps, on-board charging parts and discharge adapters are all specific to the EV, so order each one by the OE number on the old part.
Which driver-assistance sensors are fitted?
It varies by trim. The Comfort and Luxury have a rear camera and rear parking sensors. The Premium adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera, and the Flagship adds automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive headlights. A bumper from one trim may therefore need sensor holes and brackets that another trim lacks. After a front or rear repair, check each sensor and bracket as well as the panel, and order the bumper and sensors by OE number and the paint by colour code.
What regular service parts does the Song Pro EV need?
With no engine, there is no engine oil, oil filter or spark plug work. The regular items are the ones most electric cars need: tyres, brake fluid, the cabin air filter, wiper blades, coolant for the battery and motor circuits, and the 12-volt battery. Brake pads last longer than on a petrol car because regeneration does much of the braking, but the discs still need checking. Match each service part to the OE number on the part fitted, and use the quote form if a number is missing.
