BYD Song Pro Parts

The Song Pro badge covers two different cars split by a rebuild on 12 April 2021, and it never came to the UK, so parts for it arrive via cross-reference rather than an import history. Read the build date before ordering, since the earlier and later cars carry different engine castings and gearboxes under the same 1.5T name.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
Radar or driver-assistance warning after a light front knock The millimetre-wave radar and its bracket. The radar sits above the number plate on the 2021 car and below it on the 2019 car, so check the build date before ordering the bracket or trim.
Judder or hesitation when pulling away in an automatic Gearbox fluid and the dual-clutch control parts. Confirm whether the car has the six-speed or the seven-speed unit before ordering, since the two do not share parts.
Clutch slipping or biting high on a manual car The clutch kit and release parts. Only 2021 cars with the 118 kW engine had a manual gearbox, so match the kit to that car by OE number.
Parking brake warning, or a rear caliper piston that will not wind back The electric parking brake motor on the rear caliper. The piston has to be retracted electronically, so order a caliper with the motor by OE number.
Engine warning light, misfire or rough idle Ignition coils, spark plugs and the lambda sensors. Read the engine code on the block first, since the 118 kW and 136 kW engines take different parts.
Low oil pressure warning or oil seeping from under the engine The oil pump, sump seals and turbo oil feed. Trace the leak to its source, then match the part to the engine code.
Parking sensor warning after bumper repair The ultrasonic sensors and their brackets in the bumper. Front sensors came only on the upper 2019 trims, so order to match the equipment fitted.

Most Replaced Parts on the Song Pro

  1. Timing drive componentsTwo engines were fitted, so match timing parts to the engine code on the block
  2. Valvetrain and camshaft partsThe 136 kW Xiaoyun engine from April 2021 takes its own valvetrain parts
  3. Oil pump and sump circuit partsA turbocharged direct-injection engine, so oil pump, sump seals and turbo feed matter
  4. Mirrors and mirror glassHeated glass came from the second trim upward, so order by side and OE number
  5. Wings, bonnets and lidsThe front end was restyled in April 2021, so match panels by OE number and colour code

About BYD Song Pro Parts

The BYD Song Pro is a five-seat compact SUV, 4,650 mm long on a 2,712 mm wheelbase. It was launched in China on 11 July 2019 and sold with petrol, plug-in hybrid and fully electric drive. The parts on this page are for the petrol car. It has front-wheel drive, a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and either a dual-clutch or a manual gearbox. It was built until March 2022, when BYD stopped making petrol cars. As a combustion car it needs the full range of engine parts, from the timing drive and valvetrain to the oil pump and sensors, as well as the body, brake and suspension parts that any SUV of its size wears out. Two engines and three gearboxes were fitted in its short life, so the model name alone does not settle fitment. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the listing.

What to know before buying BYD Song Pro parts

Start by making sure the car is a petrol Song Pro. From 2019 the same body was also sold as the Song Pro DM plug-in hybrid and the Song Pro EV. From December 2021 it was sold as the Song Pro DM-i. All of them sit on the same 2,712 mm wheelbase, so a tape measure will not tell them apart. A charging flap is the quick sign of a plug-in car, and the petrol car has none. Parts that look alike across these versions are not safe to swap on looks alone, so match every part by OE number.

The petrol car divides at 12 April 2021, when the updated model went on sale and was listed as the second-generation Song Pro. The front end gained a wider grille, and the millimetre-wave radar moved from below the number plate to above it. The rear bumper gained silver trim strips and the D-pillar gained new trim. Inside, a new dashboard brought an 8-inch instrument screen and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen. Grilles, bumpers, the radar bracket and dashboard parts therefore differ either side of that date, so read the build date on the identification plate before ordering them.

The engine does not follow the date so neatly. Every 2019 car has a 118 kW 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. The 2021 range kept that 118 kW engine, now with a six-speed manual on the entry trim. It also added the Xiaoyun 1.5-litre turbo, coded BYD476ZQD, with 136 kW and a seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. A 2021 car can therefore have either engine. Read the engine code on the block before ordering timing, valvetrain, turbo or injection parts. Confirm the gearbox before ordering clutch, fluid or gearbox control parts.

A few things vary from car to car. The 2019 entry trim ran on 17-inch wheels and most other cars on 225/60 R18, so read the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres or rims. On the 2019 car, front parking sensors, the 360-degree camera and adaptive LED headlamps came only on the upper trims, so a lamp or sensor has to match the equipment actually fitted. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car rather than the colour name, since new colours arrived with the 2021 model.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Look for a charging flap first. The petrol Song Pro has none, so a car with one needs parts for the DM, EV or DM-i version instead.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing, and order only when they agree.
  3. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering a grille, bumper, radar bracket or dashboard part, since the car changed on 12 April 2021.
  4. Read the engine code on the block before ordering timing, valvetrain, turbo or injection parts, since a 2021 car can have either the 118 kW or the 136 kW engine.
  5. Confirm whether the car has the six-speed dual-clutch, the seven-speed dual-clutch or the six-speed manual gearbox before ordering fluid, clutch or control parts.
  6. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres or rims, since cars left the factory on 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.
  7. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

BYD launched the Song Pro in China on 11 July 2019 as a family of three versions sharing one body: a petrol car, the Song Pro DM plug-in hybrid and the Song Pro EV. All three were five-seat SUVs, 4,650 mm long on a 2,712 mm wheelbase, with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. The petrol car used a 118 kW 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.

The petrol car was updated on 12 April 2021. The front was restyled with a wider grille and the radar moved above the number plate. The rear bumper and D-pillar gained new trim, and the dashboard was replaced with a new layout and larger screens. The update also added the 136 kW Xiaoyun engine with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, and a six-speed manual for the 118 kW engine. The body and wheelbase did not change. For parts, this update is the main split on the petrol car. Front-end panels, the radar mounting and interior trim follow the build date, while engine and gearbox parts follow the engine code and the gearbox actually fitted.

BYD stopped building petrol cars in March 2022, which ended the petrol Song Pro. At the time, BYD said it would keep producing and supplying parts for its petrol cars. The name carried on as a plug-in hybrid. The Song Pro DM-i arrived in December 2021 and was facelifted in May 2023, when the body grew to 4,738 mm. A second facelift followed in September 2024 with a new hybrid system. Since 2025 the DM-i has also been exported as the Sealion 5 DM-i. None of these later changes apply to the petrol car, so do not order their panels, engine or gearbox parts for it.

BYD Song Pro Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Song Pro?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That matters on the Song Pro because one body was sold with petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric drive, and the petrol car had two engines and three gearboxes. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo of it through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How can I tell a 2019 Song Pro from the 2021 model?

Look at the front. The 2021 model, on sale from 12 April 2021, has a wider grille, and its radar sits above the number plate rather than below it. At the back it has silver trim strips on the bumper, and inside it has a new dashboard with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen. The surest check is the build date on the identification plate. Read it before ordering front-end panels, the radar bracket or dashboard parts, then confirm each part by OE number.

My car has a 1.5T badge. Which engine does it have?

There are two possibilities. Every 2019 car and some 2021 cars have the 118 kW 1.5-litre turbo engine. From April 2021, BYD also offered the Xiaoyun 1.5-litre turbo, coded BYD476ZQD, with 136 kW and 288 Nm, always paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. They are separate engines, so timing, valvetrain, turbo and injection parts differ between them. Read the engine code on the block before ordering anything for the engine, then match each part by OE number.

Was the petrol Song Pro ever sold with a manual gearbox?

Yes, but only from April 2021. Every trim of the 2019 car had a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. The 2021 range added a six-speed manual on the entry trim, paired with the 118 kW engine. The 136 kW Xiaoyun engine was never offered with a manual. A request for a Song Pro clutch kit is therefore genuine if the car was built after April 2021 with the 118 kW engine. Check the gear lever in the car, then match the clutch parts by OE number.

Is the dual-clutch gearbox wet or dry, and does the fluid need changing?

Both dual-clutch gearboxes are wet. The 2019 car used a six-speed unit and the 136 kW Xiaoyun car a seven-speed unit. In a wet gearbox the clutches run in oil, so the fluid is a service item rather than filled for life. The two gearboxes are different units. A 2021 car with the 118 kW engine and an automatic gearbox needs its gearbox confirmed before you order. Order fluid, filters and control parts for the gearbox actually fitted, matched by OE number.

Do Song Pro DM parts fit the petrol Song Pro?

Some may, but many will not. The Song Pro DM plug-in hybrid, built from 2019 to 2022, shares the body and the 2,712 mm wheelbase, and it also has a 118 kW 1.5-litre turbo engine. It adds a battery pack, a rear electric motor and the high-voltage hardware that goes with them, and parts around the engine and underbody are arranged to suit. Do not assume a DM part fits because it looks the same. Compare the OE number on your old part with the listing before ordering.

Is the Song Pro DM-i the same car as the petrol Song Pro?

No. The Song Pro DM-i is a later plug-in hybrid and a different car from the petrol Song Pro. It arrived in December 2021. It was restyled in May 2023 with a longer body of 4,738 mm, and again in September 2024 with a new hybrid system. Its engine, gearbox, front and rear ends and interior do not match the petrol car. Since 2025 it has also been exported as the Sealion 5 DM-i. If you own one, use the listings for that car and order every part by OE number.

What tyre sizes does the petrol Song Pro use?

Most cars run 225/60 R18. The 2019 entry trim came on 17-inch wheels, so a car on 17-inch wheels may still have its original size rather than a later change. The size is printed on the tyre sidewall, and it is the figure to order by for both tyres and rims. The 2021 car carries a space-saver spare rather than a full-size wheel, so check its size separately if you are replacing it, and match rims by OE number.

What brakes and suspension does the Song Pro have?

It has ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear, with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. The 2021 car has an electric parking brake, so its rear calipers carry a motor that drives the piston. That piston has to be retracted electronically with a diagnostic tool before new pads go in, and it cannot be wound back by hand. Order the rear caliper by OE number so the parking brake motor matches the car.

My Song Pro shows a radar warning after a minor knock. What should I check?

Start with the millimetre-wave radar at the front and its bracket. On the 2021 car the radar sits above the number plate, and on the 2019 car below it, so the bracket and surrounding trim differ between the two. A bent bracket can push the radar out of line even when the unit itself is undamaged. Upper 2019 trims also have front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera to check. Read the build date, then order the radar, bracket or sensor by the OE number on the old part.

Will parts still be made now the petrol Song Pro is out of production?

Production of the petrol Song Pro ended in March 2022, when BYD stopped building petrol cars. At the time, BYD said it would keep producing and supplying parts for its petrol cars and would continue to serve existing owners. No newer petrol Song Pro will follow, so the cars already on the road are the ones that will need parts. That makes it more important to order the right part first time. Confirm the build date, the engine code and the gearbox, then match each part by OE number.

Which service parts does the petrol Song Pro need?

It needs the full set that any turbocharged petrol engine needs: engine oil and an oil filter, an air filter, spark plugs, and the lambda and emission sensors. Cars with a dual-clutch gearbox also need their gearbox fluid changed. Timing, valvetrain and oil pump parts are listed separately for this car because it was fitted with two engines, the 118 kW unit and the 136 kW Xiaoyun. Read the engine code on the block before ordering, then match each service part by OE number.
