BYD Sealion 5 DM-i Parts

The BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is the export version of the Chinese Song Pro DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV built since December 2021 with a front-mounted 1.5-litre engine, a single drive motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery. Its front motor and engine output differ from the Chinese second-generation car, so do not order against that model without checking the drive unit first.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
An engine part ordered as a 1.5-litre does not fit The engine code. Earlier DM-i cars use the BYD472QA and cars from September 2024 use the BYD472QC. Read the code on the engine and order to it.
A replacement drive motor part does not match the old one Motor output. Earlier cars run a 132 kW or 145 kW motor and cars from September 2024 a 120 kW one. Order by the OE number on the old unit.
Active grille warning or grille flaps not moving on a 2026 car The grille assembly and its actuator. It sits at the very front of the car, so look for impact or debris damage first, and confirm the build date is October 2025 or later.
Engine warning light while the engine is running Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the 1.5-litre engine, the usual first suspects on any petrol engine, then match the sensor by OE number.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Coolant hoses, the expansion tank and the temperature sensors. The engine and the battery both need cooling, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering.
Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a minor knock The ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can cause the warning without the sensor being faulty, so check it before replacing the sensor.
Unsettled ride or a suspension warning on an April 2026 car The DiSus-C adaptive dampers listed on the Flying Edition. Confirm the build date and order each damper by the OE number on the old unit.

Most Replaced Parts on the Sealion 5 DM-i

  1. Coolant hoses, expansion tanks and sensorsThe engine and the battery pack both need cooling, so trace a leak to its circuit first
  2. Timing drive componentsFollows the engine code, BYD472QA or BYD472QC, not the 1.5-litre figure
  3. Oil pump and sump circuit partsOil pump and sump parts follow the engine code rather than the displacement
  4. Air intake ducting and filtersThe engine air filter stays a routine service item however often the car is charged
  5. Temperature, pressure and position sensorsEngine, motor and battery pack all rely on sensors to manage the hybrid drive

About BYD Sealion 5 DM-i Parts

The BYD Song Pro DM-i is a five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV built on a 2,712 mm wheelbase. Every DM-i version drives the front wheels through a single electric motor. A 1.5-litre petrol engine works alongside it, and the battery is a lithium iron phosphate Blade pack. The Song Pro DM-i has used a 120 kW motor and a 74 kW engine since September 2024. For parts, the car has two sets of needs. It needs the oil, filters, timing and emission hardware of a petrol engine, and it needs the cooling, charging and sensor hardware of a plug-in battery. The drive unit, the battery pack and the front end all vary with version and build date. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching the number on the old part is the surest way to confirm a replacement fits.

What to know before buying BYD Sealion 5 DM-i parts

Start by making sure which car you have. Outside China the Song Pro DM-i is also sold as the Sealion 5 DM-i, but export cars and current Chinese cars are built to different specifications. The shared name does not mean motor and engine parts interchange between the two.

Two other cars are close enough to cause a wrong order. The Sealion 05 DM-i was launched in China on the same day as the second-generation Song Pro DM-i. It shares that car's mechanicals and its 2,712 mm wheelbase, but its body is its own, at 4,710 mm long and 1,880 mm wide against 4,735 mm and 1,860 mm. Bumpers, panels, lamps and trim do not cross between them. The Song Pro DM, sold from 2019 to 2022, used a 1.5-litre turbo engine, a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a motor driving the rear wheels. A listing that mentions any of those is for the DM and will not suit a DM-i.

Inside the drivetrain, three things split parts. The engine is always 1.5 litres, but earlier DM-i cars carry the BYD472QA and cars from September 2024 carry the BYD472QC, so order timing, oil circuit and internal engine parts by the engine code. The motor was 132 kW on the first 51 km cars and 145 kW on the 71 km and 110 km cars. It has been 120 kW since September 2024. The battery has come in five sizes: 8.3, 12.9, 18.3, 26.6 and 34.27 kWh. The mounting, cooling and charging parts around the pack follow its size, so confirm the pack first.

A few things vary from car to car. Tyre sizes differ between versions, and 235/50 R19 appears on some, so read the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or brake parts. Driver-assistance hardware depends on the version. The Smart Driving edition of February 2025 brought BYD's God's Eye system, and lidar became an option in April 2026. After bumper or windscreen work, check the sensors and their brackets as well as the panel. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car.

Finally, read the build date on the identification plate before ordering front-end cooling parts, cabin console trim, battery parts or dampers. The October 2025 update added an active front grille and a new centre console. The April 2026 cars brought larger packs and are listed with DiSus-C damping. The section on generations and facelifts below sets out each change.

Before You Order: 8 Checks

  1. Confirm the badge first. A Song Pro DM-i is a different car from the Sealion 05 DM-i and the earlier Song Pro DM, so check which one you have before ordering.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before ordering.
  3. For engine internals, read the engine code on the engine, BYD472QA or BYD472QC, and order by that code rather than by the litre figure.
  4. For drive motor parts, confirm whether the car has the 132 kW, 145 kW or 120 kW motor, then order by the OE number on the old unit.
  5. Before ordering battery, cooling or charging parts, confirm the pack fitted, since capacities run from 8.3 kWh to 34.27 kWh.
  6. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or brake parts.
  7. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering the front grille, console trim or dampers, since the October 2025 and April 2026 updates changed them.
  8. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car, and check the parking and driver-assistance sensors whenever you repair a bumper.

Generations and Facelifts

The Song Pro went on sale in early 2019 on BYD's BNA platform, with petrol, fully electric and DM plug-in hybrid versions. The DM used a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine and a rear motor, and its drivetrain has nothing in common with the cars on this page.

The DM-i arrived with a facelift in December 2021, and from 2022 it was the only Song Pro on sale. It paired the BYD472QA engine with a front motor of 132 kW on the 51 km car or 145 kW on the 110 km car, with 8.3 kWh or 18.3 kWh packs. A second facelift in May 2023 revised the front and rear and made the body 88 mm longer, at 4,738 mm, so bumpers and lamps from before and after that change differ. A 71 km version with a 12.9 kWh pack joined the range. Outside China this car is also sold as the Sealion 5 DM-i.

On 23 September 2024 BYD launched the second-generation Song Pro DM-i on its fifth-generation DM system, with the 74 kW BYD472QC engine and a 120 kW motor. The Sealion 05 DM-i was launched alongside it. A Smart Driving edition with God's Eye driver assistance followed on 10 February 2025. The 2026 model, launched on 23 October 2025, added an active front grille and a redesigned console with the gear selector on the steering column. A 26.6 kWh pack arrived on 10 January 2026. On 22 April 2026 the Flying Edition brought a 34.27 kWh pack and optional lidar, and it is listed with DiSus-C damping. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering any part these changes affected.

BYD Sealion 5 DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Song Pro DM-i?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. The check matters on this car because the same body has carried several engines, motors and battery packs. If the old part is missing or its number is unreadable, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Do all Song Pro DM-i cars share the same motor and engine?

No. The name has stayed the same, but the drivetrain has changed. Since September 2024 the Song Pro DM-i has used a 120 kW motor and a 74 kW engine, while earlier DM-i cars used different units. Outside China the car is also sold as the Sealion 5 DM-i, and export cars are built to a different specification from current Chinese cars. Do not assume a part fits because the name matches. Order drive and engine parts by the OE number on the old part.

Is the Song Pro DM-i the same as the Sealion 05 DM-i?

No. The Sealion 05 DM-i is a separate Ocean-series car, launched in China on 23 September 2024, the same day as the second-generation Song Pro DM-i. It shares that car's mechanicals and its 2,712 mm wheelbase, but its body is its own. It is 4,710 mm long and 1,880 mm wide, against 4,735 mm and 1,860 mm for the Song Pro. Bumpers, panels, lamps and trim therefore do not cross between them. Check the badge on the car and order body parts by OE number.

Which engine is in my car, and does it matter?

It matters for anything inside the engine. Earlier DM-i cars carry the BYD472QA 1.5-litre engine, and the second generation launched in September 2024 carries the BYD472QC, also 1.5 litres. The two share a displacement but are different engines, so timing, head, piston and oil pump parts must follow the engine code rather than the litre figure. Read the code on the engine itself, then match each part by the OE number on the one you are replacing.

Why do I see a turbo engine or a rear motor listed against the Song Pro?

Those parts belong to the Song Pro DM, the earlier plug-in hybrid sold from 2019 to 2022 on the same 2,712 mm wheelbase. It used a 1.5-litre turbo engine coded BYD476ZQB, a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a 120 kW motor driving the rear wheels, which gave it all-wheel drive. No Song Pro DM-i has any of that hardware. If a part description mentions a turbo, a rear motor or a dual-clutch gearbox, it is for the DM, so order by the OE number on your old part.

Which drive motor does my car have?

That depends on the range and the build date. The first DM-i cars, with 51 km of electric range, used a 132 kW motor. The 71 km and 110 km cars use a 145 kW motor, listed as TZ220XYE on the 71 km car. Since September 2024 the Song Pro DM-i has used a 120 kW motor, the TZ210XYB. These are different units. Order a motor or its parts by the OE number on the old one, and check the build date on the identification plate if you are unsure.

How many battery packs have been fitted to this car?

Five so far, all lithium iron phosphate Blade packs. The first DM-i cars used 8.3 kWh or 18.3 kWh. A 12.9 kWh pack followed for the 71 km and 75 km cars, a 26.6 kWh pack arrived on 10 January 2026 and a 34.27 kWh pack came with the Flying Edition on 22 April 2026. The mounting, cooling and charging parts around the pack depend on its size, so confirm the pack and then order by OE number.

What tyre size does the Song Pro DM-i use?

Tyre sizes differ between versions of the car. The 235/50 R19 size appears on some versions, so the model name alone does not tell you what is fitted. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already on the car before you order tyres or rims. For brake parts, do not order by wheel size alone. Match discs, pads and calipers by the OE number on the parts coming off.

What changed with the 2026 model?

The 2026 Song Pro DM-i launched in China on 23 October 2025. It added an active front grille that opens and closes to manage cooling and aerodynamics, and a redesigned centre console with the gear selector moved to the steering column. It also brought new screens and BYD's God's Eye C driver assistance, and electric range rose to 133 km. The grille and the console trim matter most for parts, since neither suits an earlier car. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering front-end or cabin parts.

Does my car have driver-assistance sensors that need recalibrating after a repair?

Most versions have some. A Smart Driving edition with BYD's God's Eye system arrived on 10 February 2025. From April 2026 the Flying Edition could be ordered with the DiPilot 300 system, which adds lidar. After windscreen or bumper work, these sensors usually need recalibrating. Check which system your car has, then order sensors and brackets by the OE number on the old parts.

Does the Song Pro DM-i still need oil changes and servicing?

Yes. The 1.5-litre engine works alongside the electric motor and does not run all the time, but it still needs engine oil, an oil filter, an air filter and spark plugs. It also keeps a full set of emission sensors. How much it runs depends on how often the car is charged, and a car charged every day can go long periods with little engine use. Follow the car's service schedule, and order oil and filters to suit the engine code, BYD472QA or BYD472QC.

Will parts for the Song PLUS DM-i fit my Song Pro DM-i?

Assume not. The Song PLUS, sold abroad as the Sealion 6, is a larger SUV positioned above the Song Pro in BYD's range. Some parts do cross between BYD plug-in hybrids, but a shared Song name is no guide either way. Do not order body, suspension or cabin parts from a Song PLUS listing. Match every part by the OE number on the old one. If you are unsure, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
