BYD Tang L EV Parts

The Tang L EV is a seven-seat electric SUV on the Super e-Platform, sold in China as three declared cars behind one badge, rear-drive, four-wheel-drive, and a four-wheel-drive car with a drone roof box that stands 210 mm taller and 85 kg heavier. Order against the model code, not the trim name, since the roof, the wheels and the motors all fork by that code rather than by badge.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
Front and rear tyres wearing at different rates on a rear-drive car The rear-drive car runs 255/50 R20 at the front and 275/45 R20 at the rear, so the tyres cannot be rotated between axles. Replace each axle when it needs it and order the sizes separately.
A tyre ordered for a Tang L EV does not fit Check the drive layout. The rear-drive car uses staggered 20 inch tyres and the four-wheel-drive car uses 265/45 R21 all round, so read the sidewall and order to match.
Rear caliper piston will not wind back when fitting pads The rear calipers carry the electric parking brake. Put the brake into service mode to retract the piston rather than forcing it, and order a replacement caliper as an electric parking brake unit.
Driver-assistance warning after roof, windscreen or front-end work The roof lidar, cameras and their mounts. Check that nothing has been disturbed, order any sensor or bracket by the OE number on the old unit, and calibrate after fitting.
Parking sensor warning after a minor knock The sensors in the bumper and their brackets. A bent bracket can trigger the warning on its own, so check it before replacing the sensor.
Knock or clunk from the front suspension over bumps The front double wishbone arms, their bushes and ball joints. The car weighs close to three tonnes in four-wheel-drive form, so inspect the bushes first and order by side.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Coolant hoses, the expansion tank and temperature sensors. The system cools the battery and motors, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering, then match the part by OE number.

About BYD Tang L EV Parts

The BYD Tang L EV is the fully electric version of the Tang L, a seven-seat SUV launched on 9 April 2025 alongside the plug-in hybrid Tang L DM. It is 5,040 mm long on a 2,950 mm wheelbase and runs on BYD's Super e-Platform with a 100.5 kWh LFP battery. It comes in two drive layouts. One has a single 500 kW motor at the rear. The other adds a 230 kW front motor to a 580 kW rear motor for four-wheel drive. There is no engine, so most parts demand is for the brakes, suspension, cooling and sensors of a heavy electric car. The car weighs 2,675 kg in rear-drive form and 2,882 kg with four-wheel drive. The drive layout decides the motors, wheels and tyres. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching the number on the old part is the surest way to confirm a fit.

What to know before buying BYD Tang L EV parts

Start by making sure the car is the electric Tang L and not the plug-in hybrid Tang L DM. The two have the same body shape, the same 5,040 mm length, 1,996 mm width and 2,950 mm wheelbase, and they went on sale on the same day. The DM carries a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 35.62 kWh battery, while the EV has no engine and a 100.5 kWh battery. A fuel filler flap tells you in seconds that the car is a DM. Engine, exhaust, cooling and charging parts do not cross between the two, and even parts that look alike should be matched by OE number.

Next, work out the drive layout, because it decides the motors, wheels and tyres. The rear-drive car has a single 500 kW permanent-magnet motor at the rear and runs staggered 20 inch tyres, 255/50 R20 at the front and 275/45 R20 at the rear. The four-wheel-drive car adds a 230 kW induction motor at the front and uses a 580 kW permanent-magnet motor at the rear. That rear motor is a different part from the one in the rear-drive car. The four-wheel-drive car runs 265/45 R21 on all four corners. Order any motor by axle and by the OE number on the old unit.

The roof needs care too. At launch the Lingyuan drone system came only on a named plug-in hybrid trim, the Tang L DM Drone Player Edition, and none of the three EV trims had it. Check roof rails and roof trim against the car itself, and do not order drone trim parts for an EV. The EV trims listed at launch also carry a lidar unit on the roof, so roof and windscreen work often involves sensors as well as trim.

Most other wrong orders come from sister models. The four-wheel-drive Tang L EV uses the same front and rear motor pairing as the Han L EV, a saloon on the same Super e-Platform, but the Han L's body parts do not suit the Tang L. The second-generation Tang stayed on sale alongside the Tang L, and the larger Da Tang arrived in June 2026. It is 5,263 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase. Neither shares the Tang L's body. Outside China the Tang L is also sold as the Atto 8 or Sealion 8, so check which drive the car has.

Finally, a few things vary from car to car. The brakes use ventilated discs at both ends, with an electric parking brake in the rear calipers. For painted panels, quote the colour code rather than the colour name, since new colours were added in November 2025. For front trim and lamps, read the build date on the identification plate. No front-end changes were announced with the new colours, but match front trim and lamps by OE number.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Check whether the car is rear-drive or four-wheel drive by its tyres, 20 inch staggered or 21 inch square, before ordering motors, wheels or tyres.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing. A matching number is the surest check that a part fits.
  3. Order roof parts for the EV by OE number, since the drone system at launch came only on the plug-in hybrid Tang L DM Drone Player Edition and not on any EV trim.
  4. Confirm the car is the EV and not the Tang L DM by checking for a fuel filler flap, then order drive, cooling and charging parts to suit.
  5. Read the tyre sizes on the sidewalls, and on the rear-drive car order front and rear tyres as separate sizes.
  6. Order rear calipers as electric parking brake units, and retract them in service mode when fitting pads.
  7. Read the build date on the identification plate and quote the colour code before ordering front trim, lamps or painted panels.

Generations and Facelifts

The Tang L is a new model, and the second-generation Tang it sits beside stayed on sale. BYD teased it in early January 2025 and showed it on 17 January 2025 together with the Han L saloon. The plug-in hybrid Tang L DM and the electric Tang L EV share one body. Pre-sales opened on 17 March 2025, when BYD revealed the Super e-Platform with charging at up to 1,000 kW, and both versions went on sale on 9 April 2025. The EV was launched in three versions: two rear-drive cars with a 500 kW motor and one four-wheel-drive car with 810 kW from two motors. All three use a 100.5 kWh battery. At launch the Lingyuan drone system came only on a named plug-in hybrid trim, the Tang L DM Drone Player Edition, and none of the three EV trims had it.

Outside China it is also sold as the Atto 8 or Sealion 8 in some markets.

At Auto Guangzhou on 21 November 2025 BYD announced an OTA software update and new colours for the Tang L, including olive green with a floating black roof. It was not presented as a new model year, and no front-end or D-pillar changes were announced. The powertrains carried over. There has been no full facelift. Before ordering front trim, lamps or painted parts, read the build date on the identification plate.

BYD added two separate Tang models in 2026. The larger Da Tang launched on 17 June 2026, and the third-generation Tang was first shown on 21 August 2026. Neither replaces the Tang L, so order against the Tang L EV's own OE numbers.

BYD Tang L EV Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Tang L EV?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This matters on the Tang L EV because the rear-drive and four-wheel-drive cars use different motors, wheels and tyres. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How can I tell a rear-drive Tang L EV from a four-wheel-drive one?

Look at the tyres first. The rear-drive car runs 20 inch wheels with a different size on each axle, 255/50 R20 at the front and 275/45 R20 at the rear. The four-wheel-drive car runs 21 inch wheels with 265/45 R21 on all four corners, and it has a second motor on the front axle. Both have the same body, battery and 2,950 mm wheelbase. Work out the drive layout before ordering motors, wheels or tyres, then confirm each part by OE number.

Are the front and rear motors on the four-wheel-drive car the same part?

No. The front motor is a 230 kW induction motor and the rear is a 580 kW permanent-magnet motor. They differ in design as well as output, and neither can stand in for the other. The rear-drive car uses a single 500 kW permanent-magnet motor at the rear, which is a different part from the four-wheel-drive car's rear motor. Order any motor, motor mount or motor sensor by its axle and by the OE number on the old unit.

Can I rotate the tyres from front to rear?

Only on the four-wheel-drive car. Its tyres are 265/45 R21 on every corner, so they can be moved between axles. The rear-drive car has a staggered set, 255/50 R20 at the front and 275/45 R20 at the rear, so the front and rear tyres are different sizes and each axle has to be replaced when it needs it. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted, and on a rear-drive car order the front and rear sizes separately.

Does the Tang L EV come with the drone system?

No. At launch BYD's Lingyuan drone system came only on a named plug-in hybrid trim, the Tang L DM Drone Player Edition, and none of the three EV trims had it. Roof parts listed for the drone trim are DM parts and should not be ordered for an EV. Order roof rails, roof trim and anything else mounted up there as Tang L EV parts, and match each one by the OE number on the old part. The EV trims listed at launch do carry a lidar unit on the roof, so roof work can involve sensors as well as trim.

Do Tang L DM parts fit the Tang L EV?

Some parts will and many will not. The plug-in hybrid Tang L DM has the same body shape and dimensions, but it carries a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 35.62 kWh battery and its own motors, cooling and exhaust hardware. None of that suits the EV, which has no engine and a 100.5 kWh battery. Body panels, glass and trim may look the same on both cars, but do not assume they are the same part. Match every item by the OE number on the old part.

Which Tang L EV parts are shared with the Han L EV?

The drive hardware is the clearest overlap. The four-wheel-drive Tang L EV uses the same 230 kW front and 580 kW rear motor pairing as the Han L EV, and both cars sit on BYD's Super e-Platform. The Han L is a saloon, though, so its body panels, glass and trim do not suit the Tang L. Treat a motor listed for the Han L as a possible match and confirm it by OE number and axle. Order every body part as a Tang L part.

Will parts from the older Tang, the Da Tang or the third-generation Tang fit?

Treat them as separate cars. The Tang L EV has its own body. It went on sale in April 2025 alongside the second-generation Tang, which stayed on sale. The Da Tang, launched on 17 June 2026, is a larger SUV, 5,263 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase, while the Tang L is 5,040 mm long on 2,950 mm. The third-generation Tang was first shown in August 2026 and is another new model. Order against the Tang L EV's own OE numbers.

What changed at Auto Guangzhou in November 2025?

At Auto Guangzhou on 21 November 2025 BYD announced an OTA software update and new colours for the Tang L, including olive green with a floating black roof. It was not presented as a new model year, and no front-end or D-pillar changes were announced. The powertrains carried over. Read the build date on the identification plate, and order front trim, lamps and painted parts by OE number and colour code.

What brakes does the Tang L EV use?

Every EV trim listed at launch has ventilated discs front and rear, with an electric parking brake built into the rear calipers. The car weighs 2,675 kg with rear drive and 2,882 kg with four-wheel drive, so the brakes work hard even though regenerative braking takes some of the load. Order rear calipers as electric parking brake units rather than plain calipers, and use service mode to retract the rear pistons when fitting pads. Match discs and pads by OE number.

Does a front-end or windscreen repair affect the driver-assistance sensors?

Usually, yes. The EV trims listed at launch carry a lidar unit on the roof as well as cameras, and the bumpers carry parking sensors and their brackets. Replacing a bumper, grille or windscreen can disturb those sensors or their mounts, and most need calibrating after fitting. Order the sensors, brackets and trim at the same time as the panel, match each one by the OE number on the old unit, and plan for calibration once the parts are on.

How can I tell the Tang L EV from the Tang L DM?

Check for a fuel filler flap. The plug-in hybrid Tang L DM has one and the EV does not. The two share the same body shape, the same 5,040 mm length and the same 2,950 mm wheelbase, and they went on sale on the same day. The DM carries a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 35.62 kWh battery, while the EV has no engine and a 100.5 kWh battery. Outside China the car may be badged Atto 8 or Sealion 8, and the Atto 8 name covers both versions. Confirm which one you have before ordering drive, cooling or charging parts, then match each part by OE number.

Also Known As
