Yangwang U8 Parts

The Yangwang U8 is BYD's flagship off-road SUV, launched September 2023 with a motor on each wheel and its 1997cc engine used purely to charge the battery, never to drive the wheels. Two editions were sold at one price with different tyres, sensors and chassis figures, so the model code on the vehicle, not the trim name, determines which parts fit.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
A tyre or rim ordered for a U8 does not fit The two editions share no size. The Premium Edition uses 275/50 R22 and the Off-road Master Edition uses 285/55 R20. Read the sidewall and reorder to that size.
The spare wheel does not match the wheels on the car The tailgate spare is full size and has to match the fitted wheels. Check both sidewalls and order the spare to the fitted size.
Unsettled ride, uneven ride height or a suspension warning Check the DiSus-P hydraulic body control components. The 2026 model uses DiSus-P Plus, so read the build date and order by OE number.
Water in the cabin or damp footwells after deep water Check the door seals, window seals and the sunroof seal and mechanism. The car is designed to float with its windows shut, so replace any damaged seal by OE number.
Engine warning light while the range extender is running Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the generator engine, which are the usual first suspects on any petrol engine. Order by OE number.
Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a light knock Check the ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can cause the warning by itself, so inspect it before replacing a sensor.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Check the coolant hoses, expansion tank and temperature sensors. The car cools a battery, four motors and an engine, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering.

Most Replaced Parts on the Yangwang U8

  1. Temperature, pressure and position sensorsThe largest group, on a car monitoring four motors, a battery and a generator engine
  2. Timing drive componentsThe generator engine still has a timing drive, even though it never turns the wheels
  3. Fuel tank, lines and filtersA full fuel system feeds the generator engine, so tank, lines and filters still wear
  4. Front and rear bumper coversFront bumpers differ between the two editions, and both ends carry parking sensors
  5. Control units and modulesMatch every module by OE number, since the two editions carry different roof sensor hardware

About Yangwang U8 Parts

The Yangwang U8 is a large five-seat off-road SUV built on a separate chassis frame. It was Yangwang's first model and went on sale in China on 20 September 2023. Each wheel has its own electric motor, giving four motors and 880 kW in total. A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine charges the battery and is never connected to the wheels. The U8 therefore needs two groups of parts. The first is the motors, battery, cooling and DiSus-P body-control hardware of a heavy electric car. The second is the oil, filters, fuel system and emission sensors of a petrol engine. There are two editions on the road, the Premium Edition and the Off-road Master Edition. They differ at the wheels, the roof and the front end, and the long-wheelbase U8L is a separate car. Every part on this page is listed by OE number, and matching the number on the old part is the surest way to confirm a fit.

What to know before buying Yangwang U8 parts

Start by finding out which edition you have. The Premium Edition runs 275/50 R22 road tyres, the same size front and rear. It measures 5,319 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,930 mm tall. The Off-road Master Edition went on sale on 25 April 2024. It runs 285/55 R20 all-terrain tyres on 20-inch forged rims, and it measures 5,325 mm long, 2,095 mm wide and 1,940 mm tall. It also has a snorkel, a reworked front bumper and a detachable roof rack, with an optional drone kit on the roof. The quickest check is the size printed on the tyre sidewall.

Orders most often go wrong at the wheels, the roof and the front of the car. The two editions share no tyre or rim size, so order both by the size on the car. The Premium Edition has a lidar unit in the centre of the roof. On the Off-road Master Edition that lidar is removed and the roof housings carry an infrared night vision system, so roof sensors, their housings and the related modules differ between the two. The off-road edition is 45 mm wider and has its own front bumper, so match exterior panels at the front and sides by OE number.

Both editions carry a full-size spare wheel on the tailgate behind an octagonal cover. The spare has to match the wheels actually fitted. The long-wheelbase U8L has no external spare and a 3,250 mm wheelbase against the U8's 3,050 mm, so its tailgate, rear bumper and rear suspension parts do not suit a U8.

The generator engine carries the code BYD487ZQD, but the engine code alone does not tell you whether a part fits. Mounts, cooling pipework, intake and exhaust depend on the installation, and the off-road edition adds a snorkel to the intake. Order every engine part by the OE number on the part you are replacing.

A few other things vary from car to car. The brakes are ventilated discs front and rear, and the pads, discs and calipers must match each other, so check what is fitted before ordering. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name. The U8 is designed to float in an emergency with its windows shut and its sunroof open as an exit, so after deep water, check door seals, window regulators and the sunroof as well as the body.

Finally, read the build date on the identification plate before ordering battery, charging, suspension or cabin screen parts. The 2026 model, launched on 5 March 2026, changed all of them.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Read the tyre size on the sidewall to confirm the edition. 275/50 R22 means a Premium Edition and 285/55 R20 means an Off-road Master Edition. Order tyres and rims to match.
  2. Compare the OE number on the part you are replacing with the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Check that the full-size spare on the tailgate matches the wheels fitted, then order a spare wheel, tyre or cover to that size.
  4. Order generator engine parts by the OE number on the old part, not by the engine code BYD487ZQD.
  5. If the car could be a U8L, measure the wheelbase first. 3,050 mm is the U8 and 3,250 mm is the U8L. Then order body and rear suspension parts for the correct car.
  6. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering battery, charging, suspension or cabin screen parts, because the 2026 model changed them.
  7. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car, not by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The U8 was Yangwang's first model. It was first shown on 5 January 2023, and the Premium Edition went on sale in China on 20 September 2023. It is a five-seat SUV on BYD's e4 platform with a separate chassis frame. It has one electric motor at each wheel, a 49.05 kWh Blade battery and a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that only generates power. Its DiSus-P hydraulic body control can raise the car to full height for emergency float mode.

The Off-road Master Edition followed on 25 April 2024 at the Beijing motor show. It keeps the same drive. The changes are 285/55 R20 all-terrain tyres on 20-inch forged rims in place of 275/50 R22, a width of 2,095 mm and a snorkel that raises wading depth from 1,000 mm to 1,400 mm. It also gains a reworked front bumper, a detachable roof rack, extra cooling and an optional roof drone kit, and it loses the central roof lidar. Both editions stayed on sale, so parts are needed for both.

The long-wheelbase U8L went on sale on 12 September 2025. It has a 3,250 mm wheelbase, six seats and no external spare wheel. It was sold alongside the U8 rather than replacing it, and body, tailgate and rear suspension parts do not interchange between the two.

The 2026 U8 launched on 5 March 2026. It has a second-generation Blade battery of about 56.6 kWh with flash charging, and pure electric range rose to 230 km CLTC. The body control was renamed DiSus-P Plus, and the cabin gained a curved OLED centre screen and new interior colours. The exterior design carried over, including the spare wheel on the tailgate, and the U8 has had no facelift. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering battery, charging, suspension or cabin screen parts.

Yangwang U8 Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Yangwang U8?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This check matters more than usual on the U8. The two editions share most of the car but differ at the wheels, the roof and the front end, and the longer U8L looks similar from most angles. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How can I tell a Premium Edition from an Off-road Master Edition?

Look at the tyres first. The Premium Edition runs 275/50 R22 road tyres. The Off-road Master Edition went on sale on 25 April 2024 and runs 285/55 R20 all-terrain tyres on 20-inch forged rims. The off-road car also has a snorkel and a reworked front bumper, and at 2,095 mm its body is wider than the Premium Edition's 2,050 mm. Its roof has no central lidar unit. Any of these differences will tell you which edition you have. Once you know, confirm each part by its OE number.

Do wheels and tyres interchange between the two editions?

No. The Premium Edition uses 275/50 R22 on both axles, and the Off-road Master Edition uses 285/55 R20 all-terrain tyres on 20-inch forged rims. Rim diameter and tyre size both differ, so nothing crosses over. The full-size spare on the tailgate should match the wheels fitted. A previous owner may have changed the wheels, so do not rely on the edition name alone. Read the size on the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or a spare, and match rims by OE number.

Does the petrol engine drive the wheels, and does it still need servicing?

It does not drive the wheels. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine only generates electricity to charge the battery and is never connected to the wheels. The driving is done by four electric motors, one per wheel, with 880 kW in total. The engine still needs what any petrol engine needs: oil, oil and air filters, a timing drive, a fuel system, and lambda and emission sensors. It runs to charge the battery, not in step with the distance driven, so service it to the maker's schedule rather than by the odometer alone. Order consumables by OE number.

Can I order engine parts by the engine code BYD487ZQD?

Not safely. The engine code only identifies the basic engine family. Mounts, ancillaries, cooling pipework, intake and exhaust routing all depend on how the engine is installed. In the U8 it drives nothing but a generator. The Off-road Master Edition also adds a snorkel, which lets the engine keep running during water crossings. Order every engine part by the OE number stamped or printed on the part you are replacing, and use the engine code only as a starting point.

Does the U8 carry a spare wheel, and what size is it?

Yes. There is a full-size spare on the tailgate behind an octagonal cover. It should match the wheels on the car, so its size depends on the edition: 275/50 R22 on the Premium Edition and 285/55 R20 on the Off-road Master Edition. If the car has been fitted with different wheels, the spare may no longer match. Read the size on the fitted tyres before ordering a spare wheel or tyre, and match the carrier and cover by OE number.

Do Yangwang U8L parts fit a U8?

Some do, but many do not. The U8L went on sale on 12 September 2025 as a long-wheelbase six-seat version. It has a 3,250 mm wheelbase against the U8's 3,050 mm and no external spare wheel. Its tailgate, rear bumper, rear suspension, tyres and cabin trim are specific to the U8L, although much of the four-motor drive hardware is shared. Do not assume a part fits either way. If you are unsure which car you have, measure the wheelbase, then order each part by the OE number on the old one.

What changed with the 2026 model?

The 2026 U8 launched on 5 March 2026. It has a second-generation Blade battery of about 56.6 kWh, up from 49.05 kWh, and flash charging from 10% to 70% in about five minutes. Pure electric range rose to 230 km CLTC. The body control system was renamed DiSus-P Plus, and the cabin gained a curved OLED centre screen and new interior colours. The body shape did not change. Before ordering battery, charging, suspension or cabin screen parts, read the build date on the identification plate and match each part by OE number.

Does the Off-road Master Edition have lidar?

Not in the centre of the roof. The Premium Edition carries three lidar units, one of them at the roof centre, along with five millimetre-wave radars, 13 cameras and ultrasonic parking sensors in the bumpers. On the Off-road Master Edition the central roof lidar is removed, and the roof housings carry an infrared night vision system. Roof sensors, their housings and the related modules are therefore specific to each edition. Before ordering a camera, lidar, radar or night vision part, check the edition and order by the OE number on the unit you are replacing.

Why do the door seals and sunroof matter so much on a U8?

In emergency float mode the engine shuts down, the suspension rises to full height, the windows close, the air conditioning switches to recirculation and the sunroof opens as an exit. The car can stay afloat for about 30 minutes. On a U8, that makes the door seals, window regulators and sunroof mechanism more than comfort parts. If the car has been in deep water, inspect the seals, regulators and sunroof carefully. Replace any that are damaged, ordering each by the OE number on the old part.

What brakes does the U8 use?

The U8 has ventilated discs front and rear, and they stop a car with a kerb weight of about 3,460 kg, so pads and discs work hard. The long-wheelbase U8L lists ceramic composite discs, so check before taking brake parts from U8L listings for a U8. Pads, discs and calipers must all match each other. Look at the disc and caliper fitted to the car before you order, then order each part by its OE number.

Which parts belong only to the Off-road Master Edition?

The snorkel, the reworked front bumper, the detachable roof rack and the optional roof drone kit. The snorkel raises wading depth from 1,000 mm to 1,400 mm and lets the generator engine keep running in water. A Premium Edition as built does not take these parts, and the drone kit does not suit a U8L. Check the edition first, then order snorkel, roof rack and bumper parts by the OE number on the part fitted to the car.
