Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points
| What you see or hear | Check first |
|---|---|
| Rattles or knocks from the cabin trim | Trim clips, fixings and the panels around them. Find the exact panel before ordering, then match clips and trim by OE number. |
| Brake judder or squeal at the front | The ventilated front discs and pads. Read the wheel size on the sidewall first, then order discs and pads by OE number. |
| Engine warning light while the petrol engine is running | Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the 1.5-litre engine. They are the usual first suspects on any petrol engine, so match the sensor by OE number. |
| Coolant warning or a falling coolant level | Hoses, the expansion tank and the temperature sensors. The car cools an engine, a battery and a drive motor, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering. |
| Driver-assistance warning after a new windscreen | The forward camera behind the screen needs calibrating, and the glass must carry the right camera mounting. Confirm the glass by OE number. |
| The car will not take a DC fast charge | First confirm the car has DC charging at all, since not every version does. If it has, inspect the socket and flap for damage and order by OE number. |
| Weak heating or air conditioning in the cabin | The blower, evaporator and heater core. Check the blower runs at every speed before ordering deeper climate parts. |

About BYD Seal 6 DM-i Parts
The BYD Seal 6 DM-i is a front-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid saloon. It was launched in China as the Seal 06 DM-i in May 2024, and outside China it is also sold as the Seal 6. A 1.5-litre petrol engine works with a single electric drive motor through BYD's fifth-generation DM system, and a Blade lithium iron phosphate battery lets the car run on electric power alone for everyday trips. That means it needs two sets of parts: the oil, filters, coolant and emission hardware of a petrol engine, and the battery, charging and high-voltage parts of an electric car. The battery, the charging socket and the wheels vary by version and trim, and the 2027 model brought a new body in August 2026. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number on the old part is the surest check that a replacement fits.
What to know before buying BYD Seal 6 DM-i parts
Start by making sure you have the right car. The Seal 06 name is shared with the Seal 06 EV and Seal 06 GT. Both are battery-electric cars with no petrol engine, so their drive, cooling and exhaust-side parts have nothing to do with this one. The closest relative is the Qin L DM-i, launched the same day on the same 2,790 mm wheelbase and with the same fifth-generation hybrid system. The Qin L is 1,900 mm wide against 1,875 mm for the Seal 06 DM-i, and it has its own front end and cabin, so panels, lamps, glass and trim do not cross over. Mechanical parts often do, but only when the OE numbers match.
Next, check which body you have. Cars built from 2024 to mid 2026 use the original body, 4,830 mm long, on a 2,790 mm wheelbase. The 2027 model, launched in China on 11 August 2026, is 4,870 mm long and 1,890 mm wide on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, with new lights and styling. Measuring between the wheel centres settles which body you have, and body, lamp and glass parts from one will not fit the other. There is also an estate, the Touring, with its own rear body, tailgate and glass.
The battery depends on the version. The car launched with a 10.08 kWh or 15.87 kWh pack, and a 25.28 kWh long-range pack was added in January 2026. Match any battery or high-voltage part by OE number, never by capacity alone.
DC charging varies in the same way. Early high-end cars were quoted with 22 kW DC, so do not assume every version has it. Look for a DC socket on the car before ordering a socket, flap or charging wiring.
Finally, check the wheels and the equipment on the car. Early cars ran 17 inch wheels on the 80 km version and 18 inch on the 120 km version. The 2027 car adds a 16 inch option, so read the size on the tyre sidewall. Front discs are ventilated and rear discs solid. On cars with a forward camera, plan a calibration after windscreen work, and order painted panels by the colour code on the car.
Before You Order: 7 Checks
- Measure the wheelbase if you are unsure which body you have: 2,790 mm is the 2024 to 2026 car and 2,820 mm the 2027 car. Order body, lamp and glass parts to suit.
- Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
- Look for a DC charging socket on the car before ordering a socket, flap or charging wiring, since not every version has DC charging.
- Confirm the version and trim of the car, then order battery and high-voltage parts by OE number.
- Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or brake discs, and quote that size when you order.
- Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering battery, charging or driver-assistance parts, since November 2025, January 2026 and August 2026 all changed them.
- Order painted panels by the colour code on the car, and book a camera calibration after windscreen or front bumper work.
Generations and Facelifts
The Seal 06 DM-i launched in China on 28 May 2024, the same day as its sister car, the Qin L DM-i. These two were the first BYD cars with the fifth-generation DM hybrid system. They share a 2,790 mm wheelbase and a 1.5-litre engine, with a choice of 120 kW or 160 kW drive motors, and the Seal came in 80 km and 120 km electric versions. In February 2025 BYD released its God's Eye driver-assistance range, and the entry God's Eye C system, which uses a camera cluster behind the windscreen, came to the upper Chinese trims. An estate, the Seal 06 DM-i Touring, followed in China on 4 July 2025. It uses the same wheelbase with its own rear body.
Outside China the car is also sold as the Seal 6 DM-i in some markets. In China the 2026 model arrived on 14 November 2025 and dropped the 80 km version, leaving a single version rated at 128 km. A long-range version with a 25.28 kWh battery and 210 km of electric range followed in January 2026. None of these updates changed the body, so panels, glass and lamps carry across cars built from 2024 to mid 2026. Battery and charging parts should be matched by OE number.
The first change of body came with the 2027 model on 11 August 2026. It has a 2,820 mm wheelbase, a length of 4,870 mm and a width of 1,890 mm, with new lights, a five-link rear axle, 120 kW or 175 kW motors and electric ranges of 230 km and 320 km. Top versions add roof-mounted lidar and optional DiSus-C electromagnetic damping. Treat it as a different car for parts, and read the build date on the identification plate before ordering.
BYD Seal 6 DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make sure a part fits my Seal 6 DM-i?
Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That check matters on this car because the battery, charging hardware and wheels vary by version and trim, and the 2027 model has a new body. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
Is the Seal 6 DM-i the same car as the Seal 06 EV or Seal 06 GT?
No. They share part of the name, but the Seal 06 EV and Seal 06 GT are battery-electric cars with no petrol engine. The Seal 6 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-litre engine and a single front drive motor. Engine, exhaust, cooling, battery and drive parts do not interchange, and body parts should not be assumed to either. Check that the listing you are using is for the DM-i, then confirm each part by the OE number on the old one.
Can I fit Qin L DM-i parts to it?
Some of them. The Qin L DM-i launched on the same day, on the same 2,790 mm wheelbase and with the same fifth-generation hybrid system, so many engine, drive and chassis parts are shared. The bodies are different. The Qin L is 1,900 mm wide against 1,875 mm for the Seal 06 DM-i, with its own front end, lamps and cabin, so panels, glass, lights and trim do not cross over. Qin L engine outputs also vary more between versions, so match every mechanical part by OE number rather than by badge.
Which battery is in my car?
That depends on the version. The car launched in China with a 10.08 kWh or 15.87 kWh pack, and a 25.28 kWh long-range pack was added in January 2026. Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering. These packs are not interchangeable, so match any battery or high-voltage part by the OE number on the part you are replacing.
Does every Seal 6 DM-i have DC fast charging?
No. Early high-end Chinese cars were quoted with 22 kW DC, so do not assume every version has it. Charging hardware varies by version and trim, so do not go by the badge. A car without DC charging has no DC socket or wiring to replace, so check behind the charging flap first, then match the socket, flap or wiring loom by OE number.
Is a power figure a good way to identify an engine or motor part?
No. The 1.5-litre engine is quoted at 74 kW, and the drive motor at 120 kW or 160 kW on earlier cars and 120 kW or 175 kW on the 2027 model. Published figures are presented differently from source to source, so a power figure is a poor way to identify an engine or motor part. Use the OE number on the old part instead, and ask through the quote form if it cannot be read.
How can I tell a 2027 Seal 06 DM-i from an earlier car?
Measure the wheelbase. Cars built from May 2024 to mid 2026 measure 2,790 mm between the wheel centres. The 2027 model, launched in China on 11 August 2026, measures 2,820 mm. It is also longer at 4,870 mm and wider at 1,890 mm, with redesigned lights and styling, and top versions carry a lidar unit on the roof. Treat body panels, lamps and glass as different between the two. Read the build date on the identification plate and order by OE number.
Do saloon parts fit the Touring estate?
Many mechanical parts are shared, because the Touring uses the same 2,790 mm wheelbase and hybrid system. The back of the car is different, with its own roof, tailgate, rear glass and rear lamps. In China the Touring is quoted at 4,850 mm long and 1,890 mm wide, against 4,830 mm and 1,875 mm for the saloon. Order body and rear-end parts for the body in front of you, and confirm mechanical parts by OE number.
What wheel and tyre sizes does it use?
Early Chinese cars ran 17 inch wheels on the 80 km version and 18 inch on the 120 km version, and the 2027 car adds a 16 inch option. Read the size on the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres or rims, and quote that size when ordering brake discs, since front discs are ventilated and rear discs solid. Then match discs and pads by OE number.
It is a plug-in hybrid. Does it still need oil and filters?
Yes. The 1.5-litre petrol engine has a normal oil circuit, oil filter, air filter and emission sensors, and it runs whenever the car needs it. A car used mostly on electric power may start its engine rarely, so oil and filters can age with time more than with distance. Follow the service schedule by date as well as mileage, and order oil, filters and sensors by the OE numbers on the parts already fitted.
What changed with the 2026 model in China?
The 2026 Chinese model arrived on 14 November 2025. It dropped the 80 km electric version and kept a single version rated at 128 km. In January 2026 a long-range version followed, with a 25.28 kWh battery and 210 km of electric range. The body and dimensions did not change. For parts, panels, glass and lamps carry across cars from 2024 to mid 2026. Match battery, charging and high-voltage parts by the build date on the identification plate and by OE number.
Does a windscreen or front bumper replacement need anything extra?
It can. From February 2025 the upper Chinese trims gained BYD's God's Eye C system, which uses a camera cluster behind the windscreen. After a new screen that camera needs calibrating, and the glass must carry the right camera mounting. Front bumper work can also call for a camera calibration. Check what is fitted before ordering, match each part by OE number and plan any calibration into the job.
