BYD Seal Parts

The Seal is BYD's battery-electric mid-size sedan, launched July 2022 and built on the e-Platform 3.0 architecture, with the pack forming a structural part of the floor rather than a unit bolted beneath it. Trim decides nearly every part on this car, from wheel size to motor layout to brake hardware, and the August 2024 facelift changed the electrical architecture beneath an unchanged body. Read the trim and build date before you order.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
A front caliper will not fit a car that looks the same Compare wheel sizes. Cars on 18 inch and 19 inch wheels are reported to use different front brake hardware, so read the tyre size and match the caliper by OE number.
A replacement motor does not line up The four-wheel-drive car uses a different motor at the front from the one at the rear. Confirm which axle it came from and match the drive unit by OE number.
Harsh ride or a suspension warning Check the dampers. Some versions can use electronically controlled units that differ by trim and build date, so read the plate and order by OE number.
Car will not power up although the traction battery shows charge Check the 12 V battery and its fuses and relays first. A flat low-voltage battery is the usual cause on an electric car.
Brake judder or scraping on a car that is driven gently Look for corroded discs. Regenerative braking leaves the friction brakes little work, so discs can rust before the pads wear out. Order discs and pads by OE number.
Weak cabin heating or cooling Check the cabin filter and blower first, then the heat pump and air-conditioning compressor circuit. Match any part by OE number.
Driver-assistance warning after a bumper knock or windscreen change Check the sensor brackets and camera mounting, then have a workshop recalibrate the system before ordering a new sensor.

Most Replaced Parts on the Seal

  1. Brake calipers, cylinders and hydraulicsVentilated discs at both ends, and front hardware may differ between 18 and 19 inch cars
  2. Control arms and bushingsDouble-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, both independent
  3. Air-conditioning compressor and condenserA heat pump is standard on uk cars, so climate hardware works all year
  4. Evaporator, blower and heater core partsBlower and evaporator parts, with the cabin filter a routine service item
  5. Switches, relays and fusesThe low-voltage system wakes the car before the traction battery comes online

About BYD Seal Parts

The BYD Seal is a four-door electric saloon. It was launched in China in July 2022. It is 4,800 mm long on a 2,920 mm wheelbase and is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0. Its Blade battery is built into the floor as part of the body. Most cars drive the rear wheels through one motor. The four-wheel-drive version adds a second motor at the front, for 390 kW in total. There is no engine, so the parts it needs are those of a heavy electric car: brakes, suspension, cabin climate hardware, sensors and the 12 V system that wakes the car. Specification varies by trim and build date. The car moved to 800 V in August 2024. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number is the surest way to confirm a part fits.

What to know before buying BYD Seal parts

Start by making sure the car is this Seal. BYD now uses the Seal name on several separate models, including the Seal 05, Seal 06, Seal 07 and Seal 08, and in Europe the Seal U, which is an SUV. None of them shares a body with this car. This Seal is the electric saloon on a 2,920 mm wheelbase, 4,800 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,460 mm tall. Treat a part listed for any other Seal-named model as a different part unless the OE number says otherwise.

Next, work out the trim and the drive layout. Most cars drive the rear wheels through one motor, and the four-wheel-drive version adds a second motor at the front. On a four-wheel-drive car the front motor is a different unit from the rear one, so order drive unit parts by axle and match them by OE number.

Check the wheel size before any brake work. Cars on 18 inch wheels are reported to use different front brake hardware from cars on 19 inch wheels. Read the size on the tyre sidewall, then match the caliper, disc and pads by OE number rather than by model name.

Dampers vary more than most parts. Some versions can use electronically controlled dampers that differ by trim and build date, and the 2025 Seal launched in August 2024 gained BYD's DiSus-C suspension. A car with the same badge can therefore carry a different damper depending on when it was built. Read the build date on the identification plate and match the OE number on the old damper.

The battery is part of the body. Under BYD's Cell-to-Body design the pack forms part of the floor structure, so replacing a pack is structural high-voltage work for a suitably equipped workshop. On 8 August 2024 the Seal moved to an 800 V system with 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh packs, and its top two versions gained a roof-mounted lidar. Do not assume high-voltage, charging or suspension parts from a 2025 Seal fit an earlier car.

For bodywork, order painted panels by the colour code on the car.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Confirm the car is the Seal saloon on a 2,920 mm wheelbase and not a Seal 05, 06, 07, 08 or Seal U, then order from this page.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Check whether the car has one motor or two, and order drive unit parts by axle.
  4. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering front brake parts, then match the caliper, disc and pads by OE number.
  5. Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering dampers or high-voltage parts, since the August 2024 update changed them.
  6. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.
  7. After bumper or windscreen work, check the driver-assistance sensors and brackets, and order each one by the OE number on the old unit.

Generations and Facelifts

The Seal was launched in China in July 2022, with deliveries from August 2022. It is an electric saloon on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with Cell-to-Body battery construction, where the battery pack forms part of the floor. Outside China it is also sold in Europe and other export markets, sometimes under different trim names.

On 8 August 2024 BYD launched the 2025 Seal in China. The body and dimensions did not change. Underneath, the car moved to e-Platform 3.0 Evo with an 800 V system and silicon carbide power electronics. It also gained new 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh packs and DiSus-C suspension, and the top two of its four versions gained a roof-mounted lidar, the first on any BYD. Battery, charging and high-voltage parts from a 2025 Seal are a separate group from those on earlier cars.

BYD Seal Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Seal?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This check matters on the Seal because trim, market and build date all change parts that look alike, from dampers to brake hardware. If the old part is missing or its number is unreadable, send a photo of it through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Do parts from the Seal 05, Seal 06 or Seal 07 fit my Seal?

Assume they do not. BYD uses the Seal name on several separate models, including the Seal 05, Seal 06, Seal 07 and Seal 08. In Europe the Seal U is an SUV. Each of these models has its own body and much of its own running gear. This page covers the electric saloon on a 2,920 mm wheelbase, 4,800 mm long. Sharing a name does not mean sharing parts, so compare the OE number on your old part with the listing before you order.

Does my Seal have one motor or two?

It depends on the version. Most cars drive the rear wheels through one motor. The four-wheel-drive version adds a second motor at the front, for 390 kW in total. Front drive unit parts apply only to the four-wheel-drive car, and its front and rear motors are different units. Check which layout your car has, then order drive and suspension parts by axle and match each one by the OE number on the part you are replacing.

Why will my Seal not power up when the traction battery shows charge?

Check the 12 V battery first. The low-voltage system wakes the car before the traction battery comes online, so a flat 12 V battery can leave the car dead even when the main pack is charged. A flat low-voltage battery is the usual cause on an electric car. If the battery is healthy, check the fuses and relays next. Order any replacement switch, relay or fuse by the OE number on the part you are replacing.

Will any Seal front brake caliper fit mine?

Not necessarily. Cars on 225/50 R18 tyres are reported to use different front brake hardware from cars on 235/45 R19 tyres. The discs are ventilated front and rear. Read the tyre size on the sidewall first, since it tells you which group the car belongs to. Then match the caliper, disc and pads to the OE numbers on the parts already fitted, and order pads that suit the disc and caliper you actually have.

Are the dampers the same across the Seal range?

No. Some versions can use electronically controlled dampers that differ by trim and build date. The 2025 Seal launched in China on 8 August 2024 gained BYD's DiSus-C suspension. A car with the same badge can therefore carry a different damper depending on when it was built. Read the build date on the identification plate, then match the damper to the OE number on the old unit, and order front and rear separately.

Which battery does my Seal have?

It depends on the version and the build date. On 8 August 2024 the Seal moved to an 800 V system with 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh packs, so treat packs from earlier cars as different unless the OE numbers match. The battery forms part of the floor under BYD's Cell-to-Body design. Capacity alone is a weak guide, so identify high-voltage parts by the OE number on the part and the build date on the identification plate.

Can I swap in a used battery pack from another Seal?

Treat it as structural work rather than a simple swap. The Seal uses BYD's Cell-to-Body design, in which the battery forms part of the floor structure, and BYD quotes a torsional stiffness of 40,500 Nm per degree for the body. Removing and fitting a pack affects the body as well as the high-voltage system, and it needs a workshop equipped for both. If you are sourcing pack components, match each one by its OE number and have that workshop do the fitting.

Do parts from a 2025 Seal fit an earlier car?

Many body parts may fit, because the August 2024 update in China did not change the shell or the dimensions. Underneath, that car moved to an 800 V system with silicon carbide electronics, new battery packs and DiSus-C suspension, and its top two versions carry a roof lidar. Treat charging, battery, high-voltage and suspension parts as different unless the OE numbers match, and compare the number on your old part before ordering.

Why do the brake discs on my Seal corrode?

Regenerative braking leaves the friction brakes little work, so discs can rust before the pads wear out. On a car that is driven gently, this can show as brake judder or scraping. The discs are ventilated front and rear, and front brake hardware may differ between 18 and 19 inch cars. Read the tyre size on the sidewall, then order discs and pads by the OE numbers on the parts already fitted.

Does my Seal have lidar?

Only some cars do. Lidar arrived on the Seal launched in China on 8 August 2024. The top two of its four versions carry a roof-mounted unit, the first on any BYD. On any Seal, the driver-assistance cameras and radar can need attention after windscreen or bumper work. Order sensors and brackets by the OE number on the old unit, and have a workshop check the system afterwards.

What routine parts does a Seal need without an engine?

There is no engine oil or oil filter, but the car still has parts that wear. Tyres, brake pads, discs and brake fluid, the cabin filter, wiper blades and suspension bushes all need replacing in time. The 12 V battery is a common reason for a car that will not wake. Regenerative braking means the friction brakes do less work, so discs can corrode before the pads wear out. Check the part fitted to the car, then order by its OE number.

Safety Recalls Affecting This Model

No recall affects the BYD Seal in the UK. The one safety campaign on record is a voluntary recall opened by BYD India on 27 January 2026, covering the Blade high-voltage pack over a possible cell defect, and it applies to every variant and both pack sizes sold there. No unit count or build-date window was published alongside it, so it cannot be read across into any other market by VIN, trim or build date, and it has no bearing on cars sold in the UK.

If you have been told otherwise about a UK car, do not act on the India campaign as if it applies here. Check instead with the vehicle's own VIN against the DVSA recalls service and against BYD UK, since only those sources can confirm a UK-specific action. Also make sure the car in question is this Seal and not a Seal 05, Seal 06 or Seal 07, as those are separate bodyshells and any recall notice naming one of them does not concern this model.
