BYD Sealion 05 DM-i Parts

The BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid SUV that has changed shape twice since September 2024 without changing its name or trim line-up. The launch car, the Smart Driving Edition from February 2025 and the April 2026 bodyshell all carry the same badge and the same four trim names, so the year on a listing will not tell you which one you have. Order by overall length and wheelbase instead, and check for sensors on the mirrors, front fenders and roof before you buy a bumper or a panel. One assembly is constant throughout, the BYD472QC 1.5-litre engine, so it is the one part you can order without asking which version the car is.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
A 19 inch tyre or wheel will not suit the car Only the top 115 km trim of the first generation runs 235/50 R19. Other first-generation cars run 225/60 R18, and the second generation runs 17 or 18 inch wheels. Read the sidewall and reorder.
Rear brake piston will not push back when changing pads Every version has an electronic parking brake. Put it into service mode with a diagnostic tool before retracting the piston, then fit the pads.
Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a light knock The ultrasonic sensors and brackets in the bumpers. A bent bracket can trigger the warning on its own, so check it first, then order any sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
Engine warning light while the petrol engine is running Start with the lambda, emission and EGR parts on the 1.5 litre engine. It runs in short spells to charge the battery, which is hard on emission hardware.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Hoses, the expansion tank and temperature sensors. The car cools an engine, a battery and an electric drive, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering.
Puncture with no spare wheel in the boot No version carries a spare wheel. Check the repair kit is present and in date, and order a replacement tyre by the size on the sidewall.
Unsettled ride or a suspension warning on a 2026 car Check whether the car has DiSus-C adaptive dampers, which are fitted to some second-generation cars only, and order the damper by OE number.

Most Replaced Parts on the Sealion 05 DM-i

  1. Coolant hoses, expansion tanks and sensorsEngine and battery cooling circuits share the front of the car, so trace leaks first
  2. Timing drive componentsThe engine runs in short spells as a generator, so wear follows running hours
  3. Oil pump and sump circuit partsA car that is rarely charged runs its engine more and works the oil circuit hardest
  4. EGR and secondary air partsEmissions hardware on the 1.5 litre engine, common to every version of the car
  5. Temperature, pressure and position sensorsAn engine, a battery and an electric drive to monitor, each with its own sensors

About BYD Sealion 05 DM-i Parts

The BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is a compact five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, sold in China since September 2024. It drives the front wheels through a 120 kW electric motor, backed by a 1.5 litre BYD472QC petrol engine that mostly works as a generator. There have been three versions so far: the launch car, the Smart Driving Edition from February 2025, and a second generation from April 2026 with a longer wheelbase and a new body. The car therefore needs two kinds of parts. It needs the oil, filters, timing and emission parts of a petrol engine, and it needs the battery, motor and cooling hardware of an electric car. The engine and motor carry across all three versions. Bodywork, wheels, sensors and battery packs do not. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching that number to the one on the old part is the surest fitment check.

What to know before buying BYD Sealion 05 DM-i parts

Start by working out which of the three cars you have, because they share a name and, on the first two, the same four trim names. Overall length settles it. The launch car measures 4,710 mm, the Smart Driving Edition 4,726 mm, and the second-generation car from April 2026 only 4,620 mm. The first two sit on a 2,712 mm wheelbase and the second generation on 2,770 mm. The newer car is also lower and narrower, at 1,630 mm high and 1,860 mm wide against 1,720 mm and 1,880 mm, and it has semi-hidden door handles and styling taken from the Sealion 05 EV.

The front end is where the first two cars part company. The Smart Driving Edition brought a revised front end, and that is where its extra 16 mm of length comes from, so a front bumper from a launch car will not suit it. The sensor fit changed at the same time. The launch car has five cameras, six ultrasonic sensors and no radar, while the Smart Driving Edition has twelve cameras, five radar units and twelve ultrasonic sensors. On the second generation the sensor fit depends on trim, and higher grades add a lidar unit on the roof. A bumper repair often needs sensors and brackets as well as the panel, so order each by the OE number on the old unit.

Wheels do not cross between generations. First-generation cars run 225/60 R18, except the top 115 km trim, which runs 235/50 R19. Second-generation cars run 215/60 R17 or 215/55 R18. Read the size on the tyre sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or brake parts sized to the wheel.

The first-generation car was launched alongside the second-generation Song Pro DM-i and shares its wheelbase, engine, motor and both battery sizes, but not its body, which is 4,735 mm long and 1,860 mm wide. The Sealion 5 DM-i sold in some export markets is that Song Pro, not this car. Powertrain parts may be common between the two, and the OE number is the only safe check.

Battery packs follow the generation and trim: 12.9 kWh or 18.3 kWh on first-generation cars, 26.628 kWh or 34.275 kWh on the second generation. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car rather than the colour name. For any part close to the February 2025 or April 2026 changes, read the build date on the identification plate before ordering.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Measure the overall length to identify the car: 4,710 mm is the launch car, 4,726 mm the Smart Driving Edition and 4,620 mm the second generation.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres, rims or brake parts, since the car has run 17, 18 and 19 inch wheels across its life.
  4. Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering a front bumper, sensor, bracket or battery part near the February 2025 or April 2026 changes.
  5. Count the cameras and parking sensors on the car before a bumper repair, and order each sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
  6. Do not order from Song Pro DM-i or export Sealion 5 DM-i listings unless the OE number matches exactly.
  7. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The Sealion 05 DM-i began as a sibling to the BYD Song Pro DM-i. Both were launched on 23 September 2024 with the fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system: a 1.5 litre BYD472QC engine, a 120 kW front motor and a choice of 12.9 kWh or 18.3 kWh Blade batteries, on the same 2,712 mm wheelbase. The Sealion 05 has its own body, at 4,710 mm long and 1,880 mm wide, so drivetrain parts may be shared with the Song Pro while panels, lamps and trim are not.

In February 2025 the Smart Driving Edition replaced the launch car as part of BYD's move to fit its God's Eye driver assistance across its range. It kept the wheelbase, powertrain, batteries and trim names, but gained a revised front end that took the length to 4,726 mm, and its sensor fit grew to twelve cameras, five radar units and twelve ultrasonic sensors. For parts, that means front bumpers, sensor brackets and some trim changed while the mechanical parts did not.

The second generation went on sale on 20 April 2026. It uses the body and styling of the Sealion 05 EV, shrinks to 4,620 mm long while stretching the wheelbase to 2,770 mm, and moves to 26.628 kWh or 34.275 kWh batteries. Wheels drop to 17 or 18 inches, DiSus-C adaptive damping is available, and higher grades add roof-mounted lidar. The engine and the 120 kW motor carry over, but body, suspension, wheel and battery parts should be treated as new, and the car no longer shares its wheelbase with the Song Pro. There has been no facelift of the second generation so far.

BYD Sealion 05 DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Sealion 05 DM-i?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That matters on this car because three versions share one name, and the first two share the same trim names as well. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send us a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How can I tell which Sealion 05 DM-i I have?

Measure the overall length. The launch car from September 2024 is 4,710 mm long, the Smart Driving Edition from February 2025 is 4,726 mm, and the second-generation car from April 2026 is 4,620 mm. The first two sit on a 2,712 mm wheelbase and the newest on 2,770 mm. The second generation is also lower and has semi-hidden door handles. Once you know which car you have, confirm each part by its OE number.

Will a launch car front bumper fit a Smart Driving Edition?

No. The Smart Driving Edition brought a revised front end, which is where its extra 16 mm of length comes from, so the two front bumpers are different parts. The sensor fit also changed, from five cameras and six ultrasonic sensors to twelve cameras, five radar units and twelve ultrasonic sensors, so brackets and cut-outs differ too. Measure the car or read the build date on the identification plate, then order the bumper and its sensors by OE number.

What wheel and tyre sizes does the car use?

First-generation cars, including the Smart Driving Edition, run 225/60 R18, except the top 115 km trim, which runs 235/50 R19. Second-generation cars from April 2026 run 215/60 R17 or 215/55 R18. No size carries over between the two generations, so do not assume a wheel from one fits the other. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted, and match rims and wheel-sized brake parts at the same time.

Do Song Pro DM-i parts fit the Sealion 05 DM-i?

Some may, on first-generation cars only. The Sealion 05 DM-i and the second-generation Song Pro DM-i were launched together in September 2024 and share the 2,712 mm wheelbase, the 1.5 litre engine, the 120 kW motor and both battery sizes. Their bodies differ, so panels, lamps and trim do not cross. The second-generation Sealion 05 DM-i moved to a 2,770 mm wheelbase and new batteries. Treat any shared part as a match only when the OE numbers agree.

Is the Sealion 5 DM-i the same car as the Sealion 05 DM-i?

No. The Sealion 5 DM-i is an export name for the Song Pro DM-i, a sister car to the one on this page. It shares the wheelbase and hybrid system of the first-generation Sealion 05 DM-i, but its body is its own. Body parts from this page will not suit it. For drivetrain parts, compare the OE number on your old part with the listing before ordering.

Which engine is fitted, and does it change between versions?

Every version uses the BYD472QC, a naturally aspirated 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 74 kW, paired with a 120 kW front motor. It carries across the launch car, the Smart Driving Edition and the second generation. The engine mostly works as a generator, so its oil, filters, timing parts and emission sensors wear with running hours rather than mileage. Ancillaries and mountings can still differ between bodies, so confirm each engine part by OE number.

Which battery does my car have?

First-generation cars, the launch car and the Smart Driving Edition, use a 12.9 kWh pack on the 75 km trims and an 18.3 kWh pack on the 115 km trims. Second-generation cars from April 2026 use 26.628 kWh or 34.275 kWh packs, both lithium iron phosphate. Packs, cooling lines and connectors do not cross between generations. Check the electric range badge or trim, read the build date on the identification plate, and order by the OE number on the old part.

What brakes does the Sealion 05 DM-i use?

Every version has ventilated discs at the front, solid discs at the rear and an electronic parking brake. Disc and caliper sizes can still differ between generations and wheel sizes, so do not order by the model name alone. When changing rear pads, put the parking brake into service mode with a diagnostic tool before retracting the piston. Match discs, pads and calipers by the OE number on the parts you are replacing.

Does the car carry a spare wheel?

No. First-generation cars come with a tyre repair and inflation kit only, and second-generation cars have no spare wheel either. That matters most on the top first-generation trim, the only car on 235/50 R19 tyres, where a damaged tyre cannot be swapped on the roadside. Check the repair kit is on board and in date. If a tyre needs replacing, read the size on the sidewall and order to match.

What changed with the second generation in April 2026?

Almost everything outside the drivetrain. The new car takes its body and styling from the Sealion 05 EV, is 4,620 mm long on a 2,770 mm wheelbase, and uses 26.628 kWh or 34.275 kWh batteries. Wheels drop to 17 or 18 inches, DiSus-C adaptive damping is available, and higher grades add roof lidar. The 1.5 litre engine and 120 kW motor carry over. Read the build date on the identification plate, and treat body, suspension and battery parts as new.

Which cars have driver-assistance cameras and radar?

It depends on the version and trim. The launch car has five cameras and six ultrasonic sensors with no radar. The Smart Driving Edition has twelve cameras, five radar units and twelve ultrasonic sensors. On the second generation, higher trims carry eleven cameras, three radar units, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a roof lidar, while others have fewer. Count the sensors on the car before ordering a bumper or sensor, and plan for recalibration after fitting.
