BYD Sealion 06 DM-i Parts

The Sealion 06 DM-i is a five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV built from July 2025, replacing the Song PLUS in China with a 1.5-litre engine and a single 160 kW motor driving the front wheels only. A near-identical name is sold abroad on the older Song PLUS, so match the model code and battery pack before ordering, not the badge on the boot.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
Front pads and discs wearing faster than the rears This is expected on this car, because the engine, transmission and motor all sit over the front axle. Replace the front pads and ventilated discs as an axle set, matched by OE number.
Suspension warning, or an unsettled or harsh ride Check the DiSus-C adaptive dampers and their connectors and wiring first. Then order the adaptive damper for the correct corner by OE number, after checking the build date on the identification plate.
Engine warning light while the petrol engine is running Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the 1.5-litre engine, which are the usual first suspects on any petrol engine. Order each sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level Check the coolant hoses, the expansion tank and the temperature sensors. The engine, motor and battery have separate circuits, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering the part by OE number.
Driver-assistance warning after windscreen or bumper work Check the camera brackets and whether the cameras and sensors were calibrated after the repair. Find out whether the car has the lidar package before ordering any sensor.
Electric parking brake warning or a dragging rear brake Check the rear caliper and its parking brake actuator. Order the caliper as an electric parking brake unit by OE number, not as a plain caliper.
Charging will not start or stops early Check the charge port, its seal and latch, and the charging cable for damage. Check the build date and the battery fitted, then order the charging part by OE number.

Most Replaced Parts on the Sealion 06 DM-i

  1. Front and rear bumper coversThe panels most exposed to knocks, and home to parking sensors and their brackets
  2. Body panels and structural sectionsSame size as the Sealion 06 EV, so confirm each panel by OE number
  3. Oil pump and sump circuit partsThe petrol engine runs part of the time but still needs its full oil circuit
  4. Coolant hoses, tanks and sensorsEngine, motor and battery cooling circuits sit together ahead of the bulkhead
  5. Windscreen and body glassCheck for the lidar package and plan to recalibrate the cameras after a windscreen change

About BYD Sealion 06 DM-i Parts

The BYD Sealion 06 DM-i is a mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV. It was launched in China on 24 July 2025 alongside the battery-electric Sealion 06 EV, which uses the same body. It is 4,810 mm long on a 2,820 mm wheelbase and uses BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system. A 1.5-litre petrol engine and a single electric motor sit at the front and drive the front wheels only, with a lithium iron phosphate Blade battery. The car therefore needs two kinds of parts. The petrol side needs oil, filters, cooling parts and emission sensors, and the electric side needs battery, motor and charging parts. The chassis uses MacPherson struts at the front, a multi-link rear and DiSus-C adaptive damping. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching that number to the old part is the surest check that a part fits.

What to know before buying BYD Sealion 06 DM-i parts

Start by making sure the car really is a Sealion 06 DM-i. In China the name is clear. In some export markets, a car badged Sealion 6 DM-i is the Song Plus DM-i, the model the Sealion 06 replaced in China. Both are petrol-electric SUVs of similar size, which is why wrong orders happen. The Sealion 06 DM-i sits on a 2,820 mm wheelbase and is 1,920 mm wide. The Song Plus DM-i uses a 2,765 mm wheelbase and is 1,890 mm wide. A tape measure between the wheel centres settles it, and body panels, glass and bumpers do not cross between the two.

The battery-electric Sealion 06 EV is the other car to rule out. It shares this car's 4,810 mm length, 1,920 mm width, 1,675 mm height and 2,820 mm wheelbase. It has no engine, uses a much larger battery and offers a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. The DM-i drives only its front wheels, from a 1.5-litre engine and a single front motor. Drive units, the battery, cooling parts and anything in the engine bay are specific to the DM-i. Panels that look identical should still be matched by OE number before you order.

The date that splits parts is 26 May 2026, when the 2026 car went on sale. Motor output rose from 160 kW to 175 kW and a 38 kWh battery was added to the range. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering any motor, battery or charging part. The launch reports for the 2026 car do not describe any new body panels.

Some things vary from car to car. The standard driver-assistance system uses cameras, and from May 2026 a lidar package was offered as an option. Two cars of the same year can therefore carry different sensors and brackets. Every version has DiSus-C adaptive damping, so the dampers carry an electrical connector and must be ordered as adaptive units. The brakes use ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear, with an electronic parking brake at the rear. Tyres are 235/50 R19 on both axles. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car rather than by the colour name.

Before You Order: 8 Checks

  1. If the car is badged Sealion 6 DM-i outside China, measure the wheelbase. 2,820 mm is the Sealion 06 DM-i and 2,765 mm is the Song Plus DM-i. Order parts for the car you actually have.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering motor, battery or charging parts, since the 2026 car went on sale on 26 May 2026 with a new motor and battery.
  4. Check whether the car has the lidar package before ordering any driver-assistance sensor or bracket, and order parts for the system actually fitted.
  5. Order brake discs and pads by axle, ventilated at the front and solid at the rear, and order the rear caliper as an electric parking brake unit.
  6. Order dampers as DiSus-C adaptive units for the correct corner, never as passive shock absorbers.
  7. Read the tyre size on the sidewall and order 235/50 R19 for both axles.
  8. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by the colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The Sealion 06 DM-i follows the Song Plus, BYD's mid-size SUV in China. Outside China, the Song Plus is still sold in some markets as the Sealion 6 DM-i. The Sealion 06 was first shown at Auto Shanghai in April 2025. It was launched on 24 July 2025 in two versions, the DM-i plug-in hybrid and the Sealion 06 EV, both built in Xi'an. It is larger than the Song Plus, on a 2,820 mm wheelbase against 2,765 mm, and it replaced the Song Plus in China. The Song Plus was removed from BYD's China website in January 2026. Parts do not cross between the two cars.

The launch DM-i used BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system, with a 1.5-litre engine rated at 74 kW, a 160 kW front motor and a Blade battery of 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh. DiSus-C adaptive damping was standard on every version.

The Sealion 06 EV was updated first, in March 2026, with flash charging and more range. Those changes apply to the EV and do not affect parts for the DM-i.

The 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i followed on 26 May 2026. Motor output rose to 175 kW, and a 38 kWh battery was added, with up to 310 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle. DiSus-C was described with a road preview function, and the lidar-equipped God's Eye B package became an option. The cabin gained massage front seats and a powered leg rest for the front passenger. The launch reports do not describe new body panels, and no facelift of the body has been reported. The motor, battery, charging hardware, driver-assistance sensors and damping are where a 2025 car and a 2026 car can differ. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering any of them.

BYD Sealion 06 DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Sealion 06 DM-i?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part. If the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This check matters on this car because it shares its body with the Sealion 06 EV and its export name with a different model, the Song Plus DM-i. If the old part is missing or you cannot read its number, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

How do I tell the Sealion 06 DM-i from the Song Plus DM-i?

The wheelbase tells them apart. The Sealion 06 DM-i replaced the Song Plus DM-i in China, and both are petrol-electric SUVs of similar size. The Song Plus is smaller, with a 2,765 mm wheelbase and a width of 1,890 mm. The Sealion 06 DM-i measures 2,820 mm and 1,920 mm. Body panels, glass, bumpers and many chassis parts therefore differ. Outside China, the Song Plus DM-i is sold in some markets as the Sealion 6 DM-i, so check a car with that badge carefully. If you are unsure, measure between the wheel centres, then match every part by the OE number on the old one.

Do parts from the Sealion 06 EV fit the DM-i?

Some may, but many will not. The two cars were launched together on 24 July 2025 and share the same length, width, height and 2,820 mm wheelbase. Underneath, they are different cars. The EV has no engine, uses a battery of 65.28 kWh or 78.72 kWh and offers a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. The DM-i drives its front wheels from an engine and a single front motor. Drive units, the battery, cooling parts and engine-bay parts do not interchange. For panels and trim that look the same, compare the OE numbers before ordering.

What changed on the 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i?

The 2026 car was launched on 26 May 2026. Motor output rose from 160 kW to 175 kW. A 38 kWh Blade battery was added, with up to 310 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle. The lidar-equipped God's Eye B package became an option on top of the standard camera-based system. The launch reports describe no new body panels. For parts, watch the motor, battery, charging hardware and driver-assistance sensors. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering any of them.

Which traction battery does my car have?

The launch car from July 2025 used a lithium iron phosphate Blade battery of 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh, giving 121 km or 170 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle. The 2026 car, sold from 26 May 2026, added a 38 kWh battery with up to 310 km of range. Trim names on Chinese sales sites vary and are a poor guide to which battery is fitted. Check the build date on the identification plate, then order battery and high-voltage parts by the OE number on the part you are replacing.

Is the Sealion 06 DM-i front-wheel drive?

Yes. The 1.5-litre engine, the hybrid transmission and the single drive motor all sit at the front, and the car drives its front wheels only. It has no rear drive unit and no rear driveshafts. A rear motor or rear drive unit listed under the Sealion 06 name belongs to the dual-motor Sealion 06 EV and will not suit this car. At the rear axle, order only suspension, hub and brake parts, and match each one by its OE number.

What brakes does the car use?

It has ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear, with an electronic parking brake that works through the rear calipers. The engine, transmission and motor all sit over the front axle of a car weighing about 1.9 tonnes. The front pads and discs therefore do most of the work and usually wear out first. Order discs and pads by axle, and order the rear caliper as an electric parking brake unit rather than a plain caliper. Then confirm each part by its OE number.

Are the dampers ordinary shock absorbers?

No. Every Sealion 06 DM-i has DiSus-C, BYD's electronically controlled damping, as standard. The dampers are adaptive units with an electrical connector, fitted with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear suspension. A passive damper will not work with the system. For the 2026 car, BYD describes DiSus-C with a road preview function, so check the build date on the identification plate as well. Then order each damper as an adaptive unit for the correct corner, matched by the OE number on the old one.

What tyre size does it use?

It uses 235/50 R19 on the front and rear of every version, so there is no staggered fitment to catch you out. Cars have left the factory on more than one brand of tyre, so match the size and load rating on the sidewall rather than the brand. We have not found a source that confirms whether a spare wheel is carried. Check under the boot floor before ordering a wheel or a repair kit, and match rims by OE number.

Does the petrol engine need regular servicing, and are its parts specific to this car?

It does need servicing. The 1.5-litre petrol engine still needs oil, an oil filter, an air filter and spark plugs, along with the lambda and emission sensors that any petrol engine carries. BYD fits 1.5-litre engines across its fifth-generation DM range, but sources give different engine codes for the launch car and the 2026 car. Do not assume that a part from another DM-i model will fit. Order oil circuit, filter and sensor parts by the OE number on the old part.

My car has lidar. Does that change the parts I need?

It can. The standard driver-assistance system uses cameras and is called God's Eye C. From 26 May 2026, buyers could add the lidar-equipped God's Eye B package. Two 2026 cars that look the same can therefore carry different sensors, wiring and mounting brackets. Look at the car before ordering any driver-assistance sensor. After windscreen or bumper work, expect the cameras and sensors to need calibrating. Order each sensor and bracket by the OE number on the old one.

What charging hardware does the car use?

The 2026 car is reported with a charging power of up to 74 kW. We have not found a confirmed figure for the launch car, and charging hardware may differ between batteries and build dates. Before ordering a charge port, on-board charger or high-voltage cable, check the build date on the identification plate and which battery is fitted. Then match the part by its OE number. If you cannot find the number, send photos through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
