What you see or hearCheck first
A replacement tyre does not match the other axle The tyres are staggered, 235/50 R19 or 245/45 R20 at the front and 255/50 R19 or 265/45 R20 at the rear. Read the sidewall and order for the axle the tyre goes on.
Harsh or unsettled ride, or a suspension warning The DiSus-C adaptive dampers and their electrical connections. Check the connector and wiring first, then order the damper by the OE number on the old unit.
Parking sensor or driver-assistance warning after a minor knock The ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can trigger the warning on its own, so check it before replacing the sensor.
Poor cabin heating or cooling, or slow charging in cold weather The heat-pump compressor, valves and temperature sensors, which serve the battery as well as the cabin. Diagnose the circuit before ordering, then match each part by OE number.
Powered rear spoiler slow, noisy or stuck The spoiler motor, linkage and fixings. Look for an obstruction or damage before assuming an electrical fault, and order by OE number.
Brake judder, squeal or uneven pedal feel Pads and discs. Check the disc fitted to the car before ordering, then match the pads to the caliper.
Clunk when pulling away or lifting off The powertrain mounts. Confirm whether the car is rear-drive or four-wheel drive first, since the mounts differ between the two.

About BYD Song L EV Parts

The BYD Song L EV is a battery-electric SUV with a low roof and a shooting-brake shape. It went on sale in China on 15 December 2023 and is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0. It is 4,840 mm long on a 2,930 mm wheelbase, seats five, and uses a Blade battery of either 71.8 kWh or 87.04 kWh. Most cars drive the rear wheels through one motor of 150 kW or 230 kW. The four-wheel-drive version adds a 150 kW front motor for 380 kW in total, and it weighs up to 2,385 kg. With no engine, the parts that matter are the electric drive, the battery and heat-pump thermal system, the DiSus-C adaptive dampers and a set of tyres that is wider at the rear than at the front. The car shares its name with the Song L DM-i plug-in hybrid but shares very few parts with it. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and that number is the surest way to confirm a part fits.

What to know before buying BYD Song L EV parts

Start by making sure the car is the Song L EV. BYD also sells the Song L DM-i, a plug-in hybrid that went on sale in July 2024, and the shared name is the most common cause of wrong orders. The EV is 4,840 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall on a 2,930 mm wheelbase. The DM-i is 4,780 mm long, 1,898 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall on a 2,782 mm wheelbase, and it has a 1.5 litre petrol engine. The EV sits 110 mm lower, and a fuel filler flap gives the hybrid away. Body panels, glass, suspension and brake parts do not cross between the two cars.

Next, check the drive layout. Every car has a rear motor. It is rated at 150 kW on the 550 km versions and 230 kW on the 662 km versions. The 602 km four-wheel-drive car adds a 150 kW front motor for 380 kW in total. The front drive unit, its mounts and the front driveshafts are found on that car only. Battery parts also split by capacity, with 71.8 kWh on the 550 km cars and 87.04 kWh on the others, so order them by the OE number on the pack fitted.

Every version has staggered tyres, narrower at the front than at the rear. On 19-inch wheels the sizes are 235/50 R19 front and 255/50 R19 rear. On 20-inch wheels they are 245/45 R20 front and 265/45 R20 rear. Order tyres by axle, and read the sidewall first. No spare wheel is carried. The dampers are DiSus-C adaptive units with an electrical connection. They sit in a double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear, and a passive damper will not work in their place.

The sensors are where dates matter. The 2025 model, launched on 30 August 2024, made the DiPilot 100 system standard, with 12 cameras, five millimetre-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The Smart Driving Edition of 10 February 2025 added a lidar to two of its four versions. None of this changed the body, so the car's shape will not tell you what is fitted. Before ordering a windscreen, a bumper, a mirror or any sensor or bracket, read the build date on the identification plate and check whether the car has a lidar. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by the colour name.

Before You Order: 8 Checks

  1. Make sure the car is the Song L EV and not the Song L DM-i plug-in hybrid. The EV has no fuel filler flap and is 1,560 mm tall against the DM-i's 1,670 mm. Order from this page only for the electric car.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing. A matching number is the surest check that a part fits.
  3. Read the tyre size on each axle before ordering, since front and rear sizes differ on every version. Order tyres in axle pairs.
  4. Confirm whether the car is rear-drive or four-wheel drive before ordering a drive unit, mount or driveshaft part, since only the 602 km four-wheel-drive car has a front motor.
  5. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering a windscreen, bumper, mirror or sensor part, since the 2025 model of 30 August 2024 and the Smart Driving Edition of 10 February 2025 both changed the sensors.
  6. Check whether a lidar is fitted before ordering glass or sensor parts for a car built from February 2025, and order by the OE number on the old part.
  7. Order dampers as DiSus-C adaptive units by the OE number on the old damper, not by length and thread.
  8. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.

Generations and Facelifts

The Song L EV is in its first generation and has had no facelift. BYD showed a prototype at Auto Shanghai in April 2023 and the production car at the Chengdu show in August 2023. Pre-sales opened in November 2023, and the car went on sale on 15 December 2023 in five versions. All of them used e-Platform 3.0, a 4,840 mm body and a 2,930 mm wheelbase.

On 25 July 2024 BYD put the Song L DM-i on sale. It is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5 litre engine and a shorter, narrower and taller body, and it has little in common with the EV in styling or mechanical parts. Treat it as a separate car when ordering.

The 2025 model followed on 30 August 2024. It kept the body, the dimensions and the powertrains, cut the line-up from five versions to four, and made the DiPilot 100 driver-assistance system standard on every car. Cameras, radar units and their brackets on these cars can differ from those on cars built before the change.

The Smart Driving Edition arrived on 10 February 2025. Two of its four versions, the 662 km lidar car and the 602 km four-wheel-drive car, gained a lidar and the God's Eye B system running on an NVIDIA DRIVE Orin X chip. The other two use God's Eye C, with cameras and radar only. Chinese listings also show a 2026 model year, including a four-wheel-drive lidar car rated at 390 kW. We could not confirm its launch date or its other changes, so match drive and sensor parts on those cars by OE number.

None of these updates changed the body shape. Sensors, their brackets and the glass they work through split by date and version, so read the build date on the identification plate before ordering them.

BYD Song L EV Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Song L EV?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That check matters on the Song L EV because it shares its name with the Song L DM-i, a different car, and because parts vary between rear-drive and four-wheel-drive cars and between sensor builds. If the old part is missing or its number is unreadable, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Is the Song L EV the same car as the Song L DM-i?

No. The Song L DM-i is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5 litre petrol engine, on sale since 25 July 2024. It is 4,780 mm long, 1,898 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall on a 2,782 mm wheelbase. The Song L EV is 4,840 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall on a 2,930 mm wheelbase. Body panels, glass, suspension and brake parts do not cross between the two. If you are unsure which car you have, look for a fuel filler flap, since only the hybrid has one. Then order by OE number.

Why are the front and rear tyres different sizes?

Every version of the Song L EV runs a staggered set, narrower at the front than at the rear. Cars on 19-inch wheels use 235/50 R19 at the front and 255/50 R19 at the rear. Cars on 20-inch wheels use 245/45 R20 at the front and 265/45 R20 at the rear. The tyres cannot be swapped between axles, so they wear as two separate pairs. Read the size on the sidewall of each axle before ordering, and buy tyres in axle pairs.

Which parts differ between the rear-drive and four-wheel-drive cars?

Every Song L EV has a rear motor, rated at 150 kW on the 550 km versions and 230 kW on the 662 km versions. The 602 km four-wheel-drive car adds a 150 kW motor at the front for 380 kW in total, and at up to 2,385 kg it is the heaviest version. The front drive unit, its mounts and the front driveshafts are found only on that car. Rear motors also differ by output, so check which version the car is, then match drive parts by OE number.

Are the 71.8 kWh and 87.04 kWh batteries interchangeable?

Treat them as different parts. Both are BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate packs, built into the car's structure with BYD's cell-to-body design. The 71.8 kWh pack goes with the 550 km versions, and the 87.04 kWh pack with the 602 km and 662 km versions. Because the pack forms part of the floor, it is matched to the version it came from. Confirm which version the car is before ordering, then order battery and battery-management parts by the OE number on the part fitted.

Can I fit ordinary shock absorbers?

No. The Song L EV uses DiSus-C, BYD's electronically controlled damping, so each damper is an adaptive unit with an electrical connection that changes its rate as the road changes. A passive damper of the same length will not work with the system. The front suspension is a double wishbone design and the rear a five-link design, and arms, bushings and knuckles should be ordered for the correct axle and side. Match each damper by the OE number on the old unit.

Does my Song L EV have a lidar?

Only some cars do. The Smart Driving Edition, launched on 10 February 2025, came in four versions. The 662 km lidar version and the 602 km four-wheel-drive version carry a lidar and the God's Eye B system. The 550 km version and the other 662 km version use cameras and radar only, under God's Eye C. Cars built before February 2025 have no lidar. Check the car and read the build date on the identification plate before ordering glass or sensor parts, then match by OE number.

What changed with the 2025 model?

The 2025 model was launched on 30 August 2024. The body, dimensions and range figures stayed the same. The main change was the DiPilot 100 driver-assistance system, made standard on every version, with 29 sensors: 12 cameras, five millimetre-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The line-up also dropped from five versions to four. For parts, the sensors, their brackets, the windscreen and the bumpers are what to check. Read the build date on the identification plate before ordering any of them.

What should I check before replacing a windscreen?

Check which sensor build the car has. Cars from the 2025 model onwards carry DiPilot 100 cameras, and cars from February 2025 may also have a lidar. The windscreen, its camera bracket and the trim around it must suit the build fitted, and a front camera will normally need calibrating after the glass is changed. Read the build date on the identification plate, check whether a lidar is fitted, and order the glass by the OE number on the old screen.

Does the air-conditioning compressor affect the battery?

It can. On e-Platform 3.0 cars, the heat pump and refrigerant circuit control the battery's temperature as well as the cabin's, so the compressor, valves and sensors in that circuit serve both. A compressor fault can show up as slow charging or a battery temperature warning as well as poor heating or cooling. Diagnose the circuit before ordering. The system holds refrigerant under pressure, so the work belongs with a workshop that has the right equipment. Then order each part by OE number.

Are the rear brakes ventilated discs?

On the four-wheel-drive car, yes. Ventilated discs are listed at the front and the rear, on a car weighing up to 2,385 kg, the heaviest in the range. Brake specifications can differ between versions, so check the disc on the car before ordering, including its diameter and whether it is vented. Order the pads to suit the caliper, and the caliper by axle and side. Match each part by the OE number on the old one.

Does the Song L EV carry a spare wheel?

No spare wheel is fitted, so a puncture that cannot be repaired means a new tyre. Because the tyres are staggered, the replacement has to match the axle it goes on: 235/50 R19 or 245/45 R20 at the front, 255/50 R19 or 265/45 R20 at the rear. Check the tread on the other tyre on the same axle too, since a badly mismatched pair can upset the handling. Read the sidewall, then order the right size for that axle.
