BYD Song L Parts

The BYD Song L EV is a battery-electric five-door on a 2,930 mm wheelbase, built and sold from December 2023, and every part on this page fits it. The catalogue name is the trap: until July 2024 the car was sold simply as Song L, so a record reading Song L with nothing after it is this same car, not the plug-in hybrid that later took the bare name. Confirm the model code or VIN prefix before ordering against an older Song L record.

Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points

What you see or hearCheck first
A tyre bought for the front will not fit the rear The Song L runs wider tyres at the rear: 255/50 R19 or 265/45 R20 against 235/50 R19 or 245/45 R20 at the front. Read the sidewall and order by axle.
Uneven or fast wear on the inner edge of the tyres Have the wheel alignment checked before fitting new tyres, then replace them as a pair on the affected axle, since the tyres cannot be rotated front to back.
Knocking or rattling from the suspension over bumps The control arm bushes on the front double wishbones and the rear multi-link axle. Inspect the bushes and mounts together before ordering, then match each arm by side and OE number.
Parking sensor warning after a minor knock The ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers and their brackets. A bent bracket can trigger the warning on its own, so check it before replacing the sensor.
Driver-assistance warning on a car with a roof lidar Inspect the lidar housing and its mounting for damage or dirt first. If a part is needed, order the unit or bracket by OE number and check the build date.
Air conditioning blowing warm or working weakly The electric compressor and the condenser behind the front bumper. After any front-end impact, inspect the condenser for damage before ordering the compressor.
Coolant warning or a falling coolant level The electric coolant pumps, hoses and radiator. The car cools its battery, motors and cabin, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering, then match the part by OE number.
Rear spoiler does not rise or fold away The electric rear wing's motor and mechanism. Check for debris or damage around the hinge before ordering a replacement, and order by OE number.

Most Replaced Parts on the Song L

  2. Air-conditioning compressor and condenserAn electric compressor, with the condenser exposed to damage behind the front bumper
  3. Radiator and cooling fansCools the battery and drive system rather than an engine, so match by OE number
  4. Electric coolant pumpsCirculate coolant through the battery, motor and cabin circuits, order each pump by OE number
  5. Front and rear bumper coversBumpers carry parking sensors, and the GT has its own front bumper design

About BYD Song L Parts

The BYD Song L is a battery-electric SUV with a low, sloping shooting-brake roofline. BYD launched it in China on 15 December 2023 on its e-Platform 3.0. It is 4,840 mm long on a 2,930 mm wheelbase. Rear-wheel-drive cars have a single 150 kW or 230 kW motor, and all-wheel-drive cars add a 150 kW motor at the front. Power comes from a Blade LFP battery of 71.8 kWh or 87.04 kWh. With no engine, the car needs no engine oil, exhaust or emission parts. The parts it does need are cooling and climate hardware for the battery and cabin, suspension for a car weighing up to 2,385 kg, tyres in different sizes front and rear, and body panels that carry sensors. The car has been sold as the Song L EV since July 2024. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching that number to the old part is the surest way to confirm a fit.

What to know before buying BYD Song L parts

Start with the name, because Song L now covers two different cars. The battery-electric SUV went on sale as the plain Song L in December 2023. In July 2024 BYD launched a plug-in hybrid called the Song L DM-i, and the electric car was renamed the Song L EV. The car itself did not change with the name. An older invoice or parts label that reads Song L with nothing after it usually means the electric car on this page.

The Song L DM-i has very little in common with it. The hybrid is mechanically the same car as the Song Plus DM-i, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, and it sits on a 2,782 mm wheelbase against 2,930 mm. It is also taller, at 1,670 mm against 1,560 mm, and narrower, at 1,898 mm against 1,950 mm. The quickest check is the roof. The electric car has a low, sloping roofline, while the hybrid is an upright SUV with a fuel filler flap. Treat body, suspension, brake and cooling parts for the two cars as separate.

The Sealion 07 EV is the car most often confused with this one on paper, because it shares the 2,930 mm wheelbase. It is a newer design on e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with a 12-in-1 drive system and motors that spin to 23,000 rpm, and its body is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall. A matching wheelbase does not mean matching parts, so compare OE numbers before using a Sealion 07 EV listing.

Several things vary from car to car. All-wheel-drive cars carry a front motor and front drive shafts that rear-wheel-drive cars do not have, and the rear motor comes in two power ratings. The tyres are staggered: 235/50 R19 front and 255/50 R19 rear on 19-inch wheels, or 245/45 R20 front and 265/45 R20 rear on 20-inch wheels. The rear track is also 13 mm wider than the front. Some cars carry a roof-mounted lidar and others rely on cameras and radar, and the bumpers hold ultrasonic parking sensors, so a bumper repair often needs sensors and brackets as well as the panel. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car, not the colour name.

The two updates since launch, in August 2024 and February 2025, changed the driver-assistance hardware rather than the body. Before ordering cameras, radar units, sensors or their brackets, read the build date on the identification plate and match the part by OE number.

Before You Order: 7 Checks

  1. Confirm the car is the battery-electric Song L and not the Song L DM-i. A low, sloping roof and no fuel filler flap mean the electric car, so order from this page.
  2. Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before you order.
  3. Read the size on each tyre sidewall, since the front and rear sizes differ, and order tyres as separate front and rear pairs.
  4. Check whether the car is rear-wheel or all-wheel drive before ordering a motor or drive shaft, then match each part by OE number.
  5. Look for a lidar unit on the roof and read the build date on the identification plate before ordering driver-assistance sensors, cameras or brackets.
  6. Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.
  7. On a Song L GT, order the front bumper, trim and calipers by the OE number on the old part, since they differ from the standard car.

Generations and Facelifts

The Song L began as a concept at the Shanghai motor show in April 2023. BYD showed the production car at the Chengdu show in August 2023, opened pre-sales in November and launched it on 15 December 2023 in five versions on e-Platform 3.0. It joined BYD's Dynasty range as the group's second shooting-brake shape after the Denza N7.

In July 2024 BYD launched the Song L DM-i, a plug-in hybrid that is mechanically the Song Plus DM-i, and the electric car took the name Song L EV. Nothing on the car changed. Parts for a car sold as Song L and a car sold as Song L EV are therefore the same, apart from the sensor changes described below.

The 2025 model followed on 30 August 2024 and added the DiPilot 100 driver-assistance system with 29 sensors. On 10 February 2025 BYD added a Smart Driving Edition as part of its God's Eye rollout. God's Eye C is built around a front three-camera cluster, and God's Eye B adds a roof-mounted lidar. Both updates were reported as changes to sensors and electronics rather than to panels, so cameras, radar and their brackets are the parts most likely to differ by date.

In July 2025 BYD announced the Song L GT, a sportier version on the same 4,840 mm body and 2,930 mm wheelbase. It has its own front bumper with more black trim, black trim between the headlights, red brake calipers, a GT badge and different motor ratings. The standard Song L has had no facelift, and its body shape has not changed since launch. For driver-assistance parts, check the build date on the identification plate, and order GT-specific parts by OE number.

BYD Song L Parts: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure a part fits my Song L?

Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This matters on the Song L because the name is shared with an unrelated hybrid, and the car itself varies by drive layout, wheel size and driver-assistance package. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send us a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.

My car is badged just "Song L". Is it the electric car or the hybrid?

Almost certainly the electric car. The battery-electric SUV went on sale as the Song L on 15 December 2023 and kept that name until July 2024. That month BYD launched the plug-in hybrid Song L DM-i, and the electric car became the Song L EV. The car did not change when the name did. A quick look will confirm it, since the electric car has a low, sloping roof and no fuel filler or exhaust. Once you know which car you have, confirm each part by its OE number.

How can I tell the Song L EV from the Song L DM-i?

Look at the roofline and check for a fuel filler. The EV has a low shooting-brake shape, 1,560 mm tall and 1,950 mm wide, on a 2,930 mm wheelbase. The DM-i is an upright SUV, 1,670 mm tall and 1,898 mm wide, on a 2,782 mm wheelbase, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a fuel filler. Under the skin the DM-i is the Song Plus DM-i with a different name, so treat it as a separate car and order Song L EV parts by OE number.

The Sealion 07 EV has the same wheelbase. Will its parts fit?

The wheelbase alone does not tell you. The Sealion 07 EV shares the 2,930 mm wheelbase, but it is a newer design on e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with a 12-in-1 drive system and motors that spin to 23,000 rpm. Its body is a different size too, at 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall. BYD shares many parts across its range, but only the OE number shows whether a given part is common to both cars. Compare the number on your old part with the listing before you order.

Why are the front and rear tyres different sizes?

The Song L runs a staggered fitment, with wider tyres at the rear. On 19-inch wheels the front size is 235/50 R19 and the rear is 255/50 R19. On 20-inch wheels it is 245/45 R20 at the front and 265/45 R20 at the rear. The rear track is also 13 mm wider, at 1,682 mm against 1,669 mm. Front and rear tyres cannot be swapped between axles, so each pair wears on its own schedule. Read the size on each sidewall and order front and rear pairs separately.

Does it matter whether my Song L is rear-wheel or all-wheel drive?

It does for the drive parts. Rear-wheel-drive cars have a single motor at the back, rated at 150 kW or 230 kW depending on the version. All-wheel-drive cars add a 150 kW motor at the front, for 380 kW in total, so they carry a front motor, front drive shafts and related hardware that the rear-wheel-drive car does not have. The two rear motor ratings should not be assumed to be the same part either. Check which layout the car has, then match the motor and each drive shaft by OE number.

Which battery does my Song L have?

Two Blade LFP packs are used. The entry rear-wheel-drive car with the 150 kW motor has 71.8 kWh, and the 230 kW rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars have 87.04 kWh. The pack is built into the floor structure of the car, so battery work should be left to a workshop trained in high-voltage systems. Pack components and high-voltage parts should only be ordered against the OE number on the part being replaced. If you are unsure which pack is fitted, the motor rating is a useful clue, but confirm by OE number before ordering.

What service parts does an electric Song L need?

It needs no engine oil, spark plugs or fuel filter, because it has no engine. The regular items are the cabin air filter, brake fluid, coolant for the battery and motor circuits, wiper blades and tyres, with reduction gear oil at longer intervals. Regenerative braking takes much of the load off the pads, but the ventilated discs front and rear still need checking for corrosion, especially on cars that brake lightly. Follow the car's service schedule for intervals, and order each part by OE number.

What changed with the 2025 model and the Smart Driving Edition?

The 2025 model, launched on 30 August 2024, added the DiPilot 100 driver-assistance system with 29 sensors. On 10 February 2025 BYD followed with a Smart Driving Edition as part of its God's Eye rollout. God's Eye C is built around a front three-camera cluster, and God's Eye B adds a roof-mounted lidar. Neither update was reported to change the body or the drive. For cameras, radar units, sensors and their brackets, check the build date on the identification plate and order by OE number.

Does every Song L have lidar?

No. The lidar unit sits on the roof and comes with the God's Eye B system on Smart Driving Edition cars, including the all-wheel-drive version. Cars with God's Eye C rely on cameras and radar instead. A lidar-equipped all-wheel-drive car also carries five radar units, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 12 cameras around the body. Check whether the roof unit is fitted before ordering roof trim or sensor brackets, and order the lidar itself by the OE number on the old unit.

Do parts for the Song L GT differ from the standard car?

Some do. The Song L GT, announced in July 2025, is a sportier version of the Song L EV on the same 4,840 mm body and 2,930 mm wheelbase. It has its own front bumper with a larger area of black trim, black trim between the headlights, red brake calipers and a GT badge low on the tailgate. Its motors are also rated differently from the standard car's. Order bumper, trim, caliper and drive parts for a GT by the OE number on the old part rather than by model name.

Does the Song L carry a spare wheel?

No spare wheel is listed for the Song L, and with different tyre sizes front and rear, one spare could not suit both axles anyway. If a tyre is damaged, replace it with the same size on that axle: 235/50 R19 or 245/45 R20 at the front, and 255/50 R19 or 265/45 R20 at the rear. Replacing tyres in axle pairs keeps grip even from side to side. Read the size on the sidewall before ordering, and check the rim size at the same time.
