Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points
| What you see or hear | Check first |
|---|---|
| A replacement front bumper or grille does not line up | The generation. The 2025 car took a new front end matching the Han EV, so read the build date on the identification plate and order parts for that side of the change. |
| Clunk or knock from the rear over bumps | Rear arms, bushings and damper mounts. The 2025 car uses a five-link rear suspension, so check the build date, then match each arm by OE number and side. |
| Harsh or unsettled ride, or a suspension warning | The adaptive dampers. Earlier and 2025 cars use different damping systems, so match the damper by the OE number on the old unit. |
| Engine warning light while the engine is running | Start with the lambda and emission sensors on the turbocharged engine, then order by the engine code and the OE number on the old sensor. |
| Brake judder, squeal or uneven pedal feel | Pads and discs. Discs vary between versions and generations, so measure the disc on the car before ordering pads or a caliper. |
| Driver-assistance warning after a minor knock on a top 2025 car | The lidar and sensor brackets. A bent bracket can trigger a warning by itself, so check it before replacing the sensor. |
| Coolant warning or a falling coolant level | Hoses, the expansion tank and temperature sensors. The car cools an engine, a battery and a motor, so trace the leak to its circuit before ordering. |

About BYD Han DM-i Parts
The BYD Han DM-i is the plug-in hybrid version of BYD's large Han saloon. It was launched in April 2022 to replace the original Han DM. It drives the front wheels through one traction motor, working with a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine through BYD's EHS hybrid system, which also holds a second motor that works as a generator. The body is 1,910 mm wide and sits on a 2,920 mm wheelbase. That mix means the car needs two kinds of parts: the battery, motor and cooling hardware of an electric car, and the oil, filters, timing parts and sensors of a petrol engine. The car changed a great deal in September 2024, when the 2025 model moved to the fifth-generation DM system and took a new engine, a new rear suspension and a new front end. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and the number on your old part is the surest way to confirm a part fits.
What to know before buying BYD Han DM-i parts
Start by making sure the car is a Han DM-i. Several cars carry the Han name. The Han EV is fully electric and has no engine. The Han DM-p was launched alongside the DM-i in April 2022. It is the performance plug-in hybrid, with a second motor on the rear axle, four-wheel drive and a larger battery of about 36 kWh. The Han DM-i is front-wheel drive, with one traction motor and a second motor in the EHS unit working as a generator, and it has no rear motor. The Han L is a separate model sold alongside the Han, so do not assume its parts carry across. Do not order engine, drive or rear axle parts from DM-p or Han L listings for a DM-i unless the OE number matches.
The most important date is September 2024, when the 2025 Han DM-i went on sale. It moved to BYD's fifth-generation DM system, with a new 1.5-litre engine and the EHS200 hybrid unit. It also gained a more powerful front motor, a five-link rear suspension with variable damping, and a front end restyled to match the Han EV. Length went from 4,975 mm to 4,995 mm, while width, height and wheelbase stayed at 1,910 mm, 1,495 mm and 2,920 mm. Treat engine, drive, rear suspension and front body parts as different on each side of that change, and read the build date on the identification plate before ordering them.
Both engines are close to 1.5 litres, so order by engine code rather than by the badge. Earlier cars use the BYD476ZQC, a 1,497 cc turbocharged engine rated at 102 kW. The 2025 car uses the BYD472ZQB. Read the code on the engine before ordering timing parts, gaskets, sensors or service items.
Some things vary from car to car. Before September 2024 the battery came in three sizes. The 2022 car had 18.3 kWh or 37.5 kWh, and a 30.7 kWh pack came with the 2023 Champion edition. Match battery, cooling and high-voltage parts by OE number rather than by model name. The suspension arms and steering knuckles are aluminium, and each carries its own number. Only the top 2025 version has lidar and the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, so those sensors, their brackets and the trim around them suit that car alone. Brake discs differ between versions and between generations, so measure the disc on the car and match pads and calipers to it. Wheel size also varies, so read the tyre sidewall. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car, since new colours such as Glacier Blue and Fashion Gray were added at later updates.
Before You Order: 7 Checks
- Confirm the car is a front-wheel-drive Han DM-i with no rear motor and not a Han DM-p, Han EV or Han L before you order.
- Read the build date on the identification plate, and order engine, drive, rear suspension and front body parts for the correct side of the September 2024 change.
- Read the engine code on the engine, BYD476ZQC or BYD472ZQB, and order engine parts and oil to that code rather than the 1.5-litre badge.
- Measure the brake disc on the car, then order pads and calipers to suit the disc actually fitted.
- Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres or rims.
- Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.
- Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing before placing the order.
Generations and Facelifts
The Han DM-i replaced the original Han DM, the first plug-in hybrid Han, which was sold alongside the Han EV from 2020. In April 2022 BYD split the hybrid into two cars. The Han DM-i was built for economy, with front-wheel drive through one traction motor and a second motor in the EHS unit working as a generator. The Han DM-p was a four-wheel-drive performance version with a second motor at the rear. The DM-i used a 1,497 cc turbocharged engine and came with an 18.3 kWh or a 37.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, and a 30.7 kWh pack followed with the 2023 Champion edition.
The Champion edition followed on 18 May 2023. Its styling did not change, but it gained a new colour, Glacier Blue, and an NFC phone key. The Honor edition arrived on 28 February 2024 with only minor detail changes. For most parts, cars built between April 2022 and the summer of 2024 can be treated as one generation, though each part should still be matched by OE number.
The 2025 model, launched on 9 September 2024, brought the big change. It moved to BYD's fifth-generation DM system, with a new 1.5-litre engine, the EHS200 hybrid unit and a stronger front motor. It also gained a new five-link rear suspension with variable damping, and a front end that now matches the Han EV. Length grew to 4,995 mm and every version gives 125 km of CLTC electric range. The top version added lidar and the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, and a new colour, Fashion Gray, joined the range. Engine, drive, rear suspension, front body and driver-assistance parts all differ from the earlier car.
The Han L came later. It is a separate model sold alongside the Han rather than a new generation of it. Before ordering any part that changed in September 2024, read the build date on the identification plate.
BYD Han DM-i Parts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make sure a part fits my Han DM-i?
Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. That check matters on the Han DM-i because the car changed a great deal in September 2024 and shares its name with the Han EV, Han DM-p and Han L. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
How can I tell a Han DM-i from a Han DM-p?
Look at the drive. The Han DM-i drives its front wheels through one traction motor, with a second motor in the EHS unit working as a generator, and has no rear motor. The Han DM-p was launched alongside it in April 2022 and adds a second motor on the rear axle for four-wheel drive, with a larger battery of about 36 kWh. Rear axle, drive and battery parts therefore differ between the two cars. Check the badge on the boot lid first, then confirm each part by the OE number on the part you are replacing.
Which date matters most when ordering Han DM-i parts?
September 2024, when the 2025 Han DM-i went on sale. It brought a new 1.5-litre engine, the fifth-generation DM hybrid system, a stronger front motor, a five-link rear suspension with variable damping and a front end restyled to match the Han EV. Engine, drive, rear suspension and front body parts all differ on each side of that change. Read the build date on the identification plate, order for the correct side of the change and confirm each part by OE number.
Which engine does my Han DM-i have?
Read the code on the engine rather than relying on the 1.5-litre badge, since both engines are very close in size. Cars from April 2022 to the Honor edition of 2024 use the BYD476ZQC, a 1,497 cc turbocharged engine rated at 102 kW. The 2025 car uses the BYD472ZQB, built for the fifth-generation DM system. Order timing parts, gaskets, sensors and service items against the engine code, then confirm each one by the OE number on the old part.
What engine oil does the Han DM-i take?
It depends on the engine. The earlier BYD476ZQC engine takes a 0W-20 oil, and the 2025 car's BYD472ZQB takes a thinner 0W-16. Both are 1.5-litre turbocharged engines, so they are easy to mix up. Check the engine code or the handbook before buying oil for a service. Oil and air filters should be matched by OE number in the same way, and the hybrid transmission fluid should be checked against the handbook for the car in front of you.
I charge it every night. Does it still need engine servicing?
Yes. A car that runs mostly on electric power still has a petrol engine that needs oil, filters, spark plugs and the sensors of any turbocharged engine. Because the engine may run only in short spells, fuel can sit in the tank for a long time and the engine may rarely reach full temperature, so do not stretch the service intervals. Follow BYD's schedule for the car and order service parts by the OE number on the old part.
Will a 2025 front bumper fit an earlier Han DM-i?
No. The 2025 Han DM-i took a new front end matching the Han EV, and body length grew from 4,975 mm to 4,995 mm. The front bumper, grille, and the trim and brackets around them do not cross between the two generations. Width, height and the 2,920 mm wheelbase stayed the same, but the ends of the car did not. Read the build date on the identification plate, and order painted panels by the colour code on the car.
Will earlier rear suspension arms fit the 2025 car?
Do not assume so. The 2025 car came with a new five-link rear suspension and variable damping, so rear arms, bushings and dampers from an earlier car should not be ordered for it, and rear suspension pieces from a 2025 car should not be fitted to an earlier one. The Han uses aluminium suspension arms and steering knuckles, and each has its own OE number. Check the build date on the identification plate, then match each arm to the OE number on the part you are removing and order for the correct side.
What battery does the Han DM-i use?
Before September 2024 the Han DM-i was sold with three lithium iron phosphate battery sizes. The 2022 car had 18.3 kWh or 37.5 kWh, and a 30.7 kWh pack came with the 2023 Champion edition. The 2025 car gives 125 km of CLTC electric range on every version and should be treated as a separate fitment. Pack size varies by version and generation, so battery modules, cooling parts and high-voltage wiring must be matched by OE number, never by model name. If you are unsure, send the numbers through the quote form.
Which Han DM-i has lidar?
Only the top version of the 2025 car. It has lidar and the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, which uses 31 sensors and an Nvidia Orin X chip. Lower 2025 versions and all earlier cars have no lidar, so lidar units, their brackets and the trim around them suit that one version only. After a minor knock, check the brackets as well as the sensors, since a bent bracket can trigger a warning on its own. Order each sensor by the OE number on the old unit.
Which brakes and tyres does my Han DM-i use?
Both vary from car to car. Wheel size depends on the version, and brake discs differ between versions and between the earlier and 2025 cars, so the model year alone will not tell you what is fitted. Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres or rims. Measure the brake disc on the car before ordering discs, pads or a caliper. Pads and calipers must suit the disc actually fitted, so confirm each part by its OE number.
Do Han L parts fit the Han DM-i?
Do not assume they do. The Han L is a separate model, sold alongside the Han rather than replacing it. The names are close and both are large BYD saloons, but body panels, suspension, engine and electrical parts should not be treated as shared. Treat a Han L listing as a different car, and order only against the OE number on the part you are replacing. If you cannot tell which car a part came from, send a photo through the quote form.
