Symptom Finder: Known Weak Points
| What you see or hear | Check first |
|---|---|
| DC charging slower on a 100 km car than on a 205 km or DM-p car | The battery pack. The 18.3 kWh pack charges at up to 40 kW and the 36.8 kWh pack at up to 75 kW, so this is expected. Only look at charging parts if the car is slower than its own pack allows. |
| Engine starts while the car is expected to run on electric power | Check the battery charge level and how hard the car is being driven first, since a plug-in hybrid starts its engine when charge is low or demand is high. Look for a fault only if it happens with a well-charged battery and gentle driving. |
| Tyres or rims bought for the car do not fit | Read the size on the sidewall. The Glory Edition Elite runs 235/55 R19 and the other versions 245/50 R20, so order to match the size already fitted. |
| Brake judder, squeal or uneven pedal feel | Pads and discs. The fronts are ventilated and the rears are solid, so order front and rear parts separately by OE number. |
| Knocking or a loose feel over bumps | The dampers, top mounts, and the control arm and multi-link bushes. Inspect each one for wear or leaks, then order the worn part by the OE number on the old unit. |
| Coolant warning or a falling coolant level | Coolant hoses, the expansion tank and the temperature sensors. The car cools an engine, a battery and one or two motors, so trace the leak to its circuit, then order the part by OE number. |

About BYD Frigate 07 Parts
The BYD Frigate 07 is a five-seat, mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV from BYD's Ocean range. It was launched in China on 9 December 2022, and its successor, the Sealion 07 DM-i, went on sale in China on 8 May 2025. It is 4,820 mm long on a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Every version pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, code BYD476ZQC, with a 145 kW front motor. The DM-i versions drive the front wheels only, and the DM-p adds a 150 kW rear motor for all-wheel drive. The battery is either 18.3 kWh or 36.8 kWh, depending on the version. So the car needs two kinds of parts: the oil, filters, timing and emission hardware of a petrol engine, and the battery, motor and cooling parts of an electric car. Every part on this page is listed by its OE number, and matching the number on the old part is the surest way to confirm a replacement fits.
What to know before buying BYD Frigate 07 parts
Start by finding out which version the car is, because the battery follows the version and not the trim level. The 100 km DM-i carries an 18.3 kWh pack. The 205 km DM-i and the 175 km DM-p both carry a 36.8 kWh pack. The two packs charge differently too. The 18.3 kWh cars take DC charging at up to 40 kW, and the 36.8 kWh cars at up to 75 kW. So a 100 km car that charges more slowly than a 205 km car is behaving as designed. Battery, charging and battery cooling parts should be ordered for the pack the car actually carries.
Only the DM-p drives the rear wheels. It adds a 150 kW rear motor to the 145 kW front motor, giving 295 kW and 656 Nm combined, so the rear motor, rear driveshafts and the cooling for that rear unit exist on this version alone. Every other version is front-wheel drive. Kerb weight also changes by version, from 2,047 kg on the 100 km car to 2,270 kg on the DM-p, so springs and some suspension parts may differ. Match those by OE number and not by model name.
The Sealion 07 DM-i that replaced the Frigate 07 causes the most confusion. It keeps the same 2,820 mm wheelbase, 1,920 mm width and 1,750 mm height, but it is 60 mm longer at 4,880 mm, has a restyled front and rear and uses a different engine, the BYD472ZQB. Engine parts do not cross between the two cars, and bumpers and lights should not be assumed to fit. The Frigate 07 is also related to the second-generation Tang, but Tang listings are no guide to Frigate 07 fitment either.
Some things vary from car to car. The entry Elite version of the 2024 Glory Edition runs 235/55 R19 tyres, and the other versions run 245/50 R20, so read the size on the sidewall. The brakes use ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear. For painted panels, order by the colour code on the car, not the colour name.
Last, read the build date on the identification plate before ordering screens, the instrument cluster, the wireless phone charger or vehicle-to-load parts. The Glory Edition changed all of these from 18 March 2024.
Before You Order: 7 Checks
- Confirm the version before ordering battery, charging or drive parts. The 100 km car has the 18.3 kWh pack, and the 205 km and DM-p cars have the 36.8 kWh pack.
- Match the OE number on the part you are replacing to the OE number on the listing, since a matching number is the surest check that a part fits.
- Order rear motor, rear driveshaft and rear cooling parts only for a DM-p, the one version with a driven rear axle.
- Order filters, timing parts and engine sensors for the BYD476ZQC engine, and do not order them from Sealion 07 DM-i engine listings.
- Read the tyre size on the sidewall before ordering tyres or rims, since the car runs either 235/55 R19 or 245/50 R20.
- Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering screens, the cluster, the wireless charger or discharge parts, since the Glory Edition changed them from 18 March 2024.
- Order painted panels by the colour code on the car rather than by colour name.
Generations and Facelifts
The Frigate 07 is part of BYD's Ocean range and is related to the second-generation BYD Tang. The production car was first shown at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2022 and launched in China on 9 December 2022 in six versions. It came with three powertrains from the start: a 100 km DM-i with an 18.3 kWh pack, a 205 km DM-i with a 36.8 kWh pack, and the 175 km DM-p, which uses the larger pack and adds a rear motor for all-wheel drive. All versions used the BYD476ZQC engine, MacPherson strut front suspension, multi-link rear suspension and FSD frequency-selective dampers.
The car had one update, the Glory Edition, launched on 18 March 2024. It cut the range to five versions and added DiLink 100 infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 50 W wireless phone charging and a 6 kW vehicle-to-load outlet. The engine, batteries, motors and body dimensions stayed the same. A new entry Elite version came with 235/55 R19 tyres, where the 2023 versions ran 245/50 R20. For parts, the Glory Edition matters mainly for the screens, the cluster, the wireless charger, the discharge hardware and the wheels. Check the build date on the identification plate before ordering any of these.
The Sealion 07 DM-i, which Chinese press describe as the renamed and restyled successor to the Frigate 07, went on sale in China on 8 May 2025. The new car is a restyled design on the same 2,820 mm wheelbase and 1,920 mm width, but it is 60 mm longer and uses BYD's fifth-generation hybrid system with the BYD472ZQB engine. Frigate 07 production ended in 2025, so every car on the road was built between late 2022 and 2025. When you order, treat the two models as separate cars.
BYD Frigate 07 Parts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make sure a part fits my BYD Frigate 07?
Match the OE number. Every part on this site is listed under the OE number printed on the original part, and if the number on the part you are replacing matches the listing, the part fits. This matters on the Frigate 07 because its versions differ in battery, drive layout and wheel size, and because its successor, the Sealion 07 DM-i, looks similar. If the old part is missing or its number cannot be read, send us a photo through the quote form and we will reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
Which battery does my Frigate 07 have?
It depends on the version, not the trim level. The 100 km DM-i carries an 18.3 kWh pack. The 205 km DM-i and the 175 km DM-p both carry a 36.8 kWh pack. So two front-wheel-drive cars can have different batteries, while a front-wheel-drive 205 km car and the all-wheel-drive DM-p share the same one. Both packs use BYD's Blade lithium iron phosphate cells. Confirm the version before ordering any battery, charging or battery cooling part, then match the part by OE number.
Why does my 100 km car charge more slowly than a 205 km car?
The two packs have different DC charging limits. The 18.3 kWh pack takes up to 40 kW, while the 36.8 kWh pack takes up to 75 kW. A 100 km car charging at around 40 kW is working as designed and does not need new parts. Suspect a fault only if the car charges well below its own pack's limit on a charger that works for other cars. In that case, check the charging socket and cable first and order by the OE number on the old part.
Which version has all-wheel drive?
Only the DM-p. It adds a 150 kW rear motor to the 145 kW front motor for 295 kW and 656 Nm combined, and it reaches 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The DM-i versions are front-wheel drive only. The rear motor, rear driveshafts and the cooling for the rear drive unit exist on the DM-p alone, so these parts have no front-wheel-drive equivalent. Confirm the car is a DM-p before ordering anything for the rear drive, then match each part by its OE number.
Will Sealion 07 DM-i parts fit my Frigate 07?
Some may, but do not assume it. The Sealion 07 DM-i, the Frigate 07's successor, went on sale in China on 8 May 2025 and keeps its 2,820 mm wheelbase, 1,920 mm width and 1,750 mm height. It is 60 mm longer, with a restyled front and rear and a different engine, the BYD472ZQB, in place of the Frigate 07's BYD476ZQC. Engine parts do not cross between the two cars, and bumpers and lights should be treated as different. For any shared part, the OE number decides, so compare it with the part on your car before ordering.
Is the Frigate 07 the same as a BYD Tang underneath?
The two cars are related, and the Frigate 07 is linked to the second-generation Tang. Related does not mean interchangeable, though. The Frigate 07 has its own dimensions, its own hybrid versions and its own body, so a part described as fitting a Tang is no proof that it fits here. If a listing names only the Tang, compare its OE number with the number on the part you are replacing. Order only when the two numbers match.
What changed with the Glory Edition?
The Glory Edition went on sale on 18 March 2024 and cut the range from six versions to five. It added DiLink 100 infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 50 W wireless phone charging and a 6 kW vehicle-to-load outlet. The engine, batteries, motors and dimensions stayed the same. A new entry Elite version came on 19-inch wheels. For screens, the cluster, the wireless charger, discharge hardware and wheels, check the build date on the identification plate before ordering, and match each part by OE number.
Is my car on 19-inch or 20-inch wheels?
Most cars are on 20-inch wheels with 245/50 R20 tyres, and that covers both battery sizes and the DM-p. The entry Elite version of the 2024 Glory Edition runs 235/55 R19. Size is set by version, and wheels can be swapped over a car's life, so the model name alone is not a reliable guide. Read the size on the sidewall of the tyres already fitted before ordering tyres or rims, and order the same size for both axles.
Does the Frigate 07 have electronically controlled dampers?
Launch and Glory Edition coverage both describe FSD frequency-selective dampers. These adjust their damping through a valve inside the damper as the road surface changes, rather than through the electronic DiSus body control fitted to some later BYD models. The suspension is MacPherson strut at the front and multi-link at the rear. Damper parts can still differ by version and position, so read the OE number on the old damper and order the replacement to match it, side by side.
It is a plug-in hybrid. Does it still need oil and filters?
Yes. Every Frigate 07 has the 1.5-litre turbocharged BYD476ZQC petrol engine, which drives the wheels as well as charging the battery. It needs engine oil, an oil filter, an air filter, spark plugs and timing drive parts, plus the lambda and emission sensors any petrol engine has. Follow the service schedule in the car's service book for intervals. Order all engine parts for the BYD476ZQC, since the Sealion 07 DM-i uses a different engine.
Does the Frigate 07 carry a spare wheel?
Specification tables list a tyre repair kit and no spare wheel. If you want to carry a spare, or a tyre is damaged beyond repair, order a tyre and rim that match the size already on the car, either 235/55 R19 or 245/50 R20. Read that size on the sidewall first, because it depends on the version. Wheel nuts, sensors and trim should also be matched by OE number to the parts on the car.
Can I fit a tow bar to the Frigate 07?
No towing hardware or trailer weight is listed for the Frigate 07 in the specification tables we checked. Do not fit a tow bar or wiring from a related model such as the Tang or the Sealion 07 DM-i just because the cars look alike, since the rear of each car differs. If you are replacing a rear bumper, towing eye cover or rear panel, read the OE number on the old part and order the replacement to match.
Safety Recalls Affecting This Model
If you have been told otherwise, check the VIN directly with BYD before ordering or carrying out any powertrain or cooling work. Recall status is confirmed per vehicle, not per model, so a campaign against a related car on the Ocean network does not carry across, and a dealer or workshop quoting one should be asked for the VIN-specific confirmation.
